Why Walt Disney World Needs a 5th Theme Park By 2025

Disney seems content to work with partners to construct hotels. Consider the Swan/Dolphin addition and third party hotels going into Flamingo Crossing. Those companies invest the capital, Disney collects part of the revenue.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

It will be interesting to see how Disney handles RotR at Disneyland Resort (DLR). Guests who have purchased Premium Annual Passes have paid extra for no blockout dates. IMO, it's improper to institute RotR quotas for these Annual Pass Holders (APH). I acknowledge the merits of your idea but...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

The last time I was blown away by a Walt Disney World (WDW) attraction was 1994 when I first experienced Tower of Terror (TOT). Requoting something I wrote in 2016: Tower of Terror is one of those special treats rarely found at theme parks. Even before entering Disney Hollywood Studios, you...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

The greatest fault is that Disney created the most amazing attraction ever offered within a theme park! :D Everyone wants to experience it again and again!

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Yes, today is the first day of 2020 that Gold Annual Pass holders can use their tickets. Today and weekends could be especially busy at DHS for a while.

You will NOT lose your Boarding Group if you leave Disney Hollywood Studios. We have done this twice.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

The problem with using FP+ for RotR is one of ride capacity. Flights of Passage (FOP) has been open for years and yet still is a difficult FP+ to get, even for onsite Guests. For example, I was unable to get any FOP FP+ for the first 3 days of my most recent onsite stay. Despite checking for...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Finished our second time on RotR. Truly remarkable. Calling it a "ride" or an "attraction" is a disservice. It really is an experience.

Left BWV at 6:07 Through security and in-line at 6:22 DHS opening announcement at 6:42 In DHS at 7:00 Boarding Group 39 Like yesterday, I did not open MDE until we entered the park. Was able to join a Boarding Group immediately. Unlike yesterday (when we were in the middle), we stayed to the...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

    58. We had plans to go to the Magic Kingdom (MK) in the morning, so we arrived at about 6:25 after walking from Boardwalk Villas (BWV). The walk took 12 minutes, including getting through security. Once we entered the line to get into Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS), it took another 27...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening reports and using Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

MDE states that Boarding Groups 121 and above will be called only if there is capacity for more riders. Looks like Disney's way of not comping these Guests if they don't make it on the attraction.

When did the Polynesian get so expensive?

You're right not to buy into DVC at current prices. Between the purchase price, required DVC points per night, and annual Maintenance Fee, it's 20-to-30 years to reach the break-even point (i.e. the point at which DVC stays cost less than paying cash). Since you're satisfied with Moderate...

All Star Resorts: Are the days of $89-$99 dollar (not including tax) days gone?

We booked a 4-night stay in an All Star Movies Standard Room in early February 2020 for a pre-tax average of $87.76 per night. Adjusted for inflation, it's pretty close to the $59 per night I recall from the early 2000s. I had to try lots of different dates to find it. Searching a moment ago...

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Rather than Guests being disappointed with GE, it could simply be that Disney's ridiculous price increases, by far the highest since the 1984 to 1988 period when Michael Eisner took charge, drove away enough Guests to severely impact the gains realized by these higher prices.

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Looks like our visits overlapped! ;) My overall impression of GE is very much the same as yours, although it appears I enjoyed the land itself more than you did. I intentionally did not study a map before arriving and found the layout confusing, which I actually enjoyed since it added an...

News Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opening day reports - Disney's Hollywood Studios

What time were your kids at GE? Each time we walked past during the past few days (afternoon or evening), the line has been out the door at least 10 groups deep. In fact, the wait was so long we decided to cancel our reservation. Our group was impressed with the immersiveness and size of GE...

What's with the wait times!? (hint.. they're low)

Not all capex is equal. :) I don't know how you calculated the 99.7%, but I suspect it includes both maintenance and investment capex. These two serve very different purposes. Quoting something I wrote in November 2016: "Capital Expenditure (capex) is the purchase of an asset that will...
