Manager: Um, how else can I explain it? You're being let go, your department's being downsized, you're part of an outplacement, we're going in a different direction here, we're not picking up your options... Take your pick, I got more.

Something tells me this was where one division of the company wasn't aware of what the other division of the company was doing and found out via social media and shut it down. I've seen it happen before when I worked at WDW where the various segments within the parks don't communicate things very well.
