Rumor Avengers E-Ticket More Dead Than You'd Think

No because one was the introduction of a major character in between Infinity war and endgame. Black Widow should be compared to the first ant man if anything.
Ant man was a new character. Black widow has been in like 8 movies so far. No comparison.

For me a big success would be 250 million domestic and around 550 million international.
That would be a failure. It has a $200 million budget. Rule of thumb is generally the same amount for marketing, so $400 million investment. Distribution costs are around 50%, so the movie would have to make roughly $800 million worldwide to break even.

So how can you compare it to captain marvel who was a new character? If it opens in the 70 million dollar range it will be bigger than the first cap, thor, and antman.
You keep moving the goalposts of what we're discussing. And this is purely anecdotal but I just purchased my ticket for opening weekend. The showings are almost all sold out already in ny at amc theaters.

That isn't a failure. Not by a Longshot. Even if 800 million is break even. Then you take into account DVD, toys, etc. It isn't losing money.

So a $250 million net loss at the box office is not a failure because of dvds (what year is it right now?) and toys? Okaaaaaay....

If you think they are losing 250 million off of 800 million then you're delusional. Disney will be very happy with that box office. This is similar to the star wars anthology. It's filling in the past. Kevin feign already announced they are going to be doing more of these.

You said $550 million would be a "big success." Don't move the goal posts to $800 million now...

What? Of course it does.
Whatever man. You think captain marvel isn't comparable because of when it came out...

"No because one was the introduction of a major character in between Infinity war and endgame."

Pretty much tacit acknowledgement of decline. You think new characters make more money than well established characters? That's the opposite of how it works.

You don't know what you're talking about. Captain marvel greatly benefited from when it came out. It had all the hype of Infinity war and endgame coming out 2 months later. Black widow is a minor character and is going to probably be the biggest movie of the summer.

I think most humans, no matter their preference, would pay to watch Scarlett Johansson do anything. $25 to watch her unclog a sink? Sold. File her IRS Form 1040-ES? Hells yes!
