Sarah at the entrance of Spaceship Earth having a butterfly tattoo on her arm is not going to ruin people’s trip...and if it does than it probably says more about you than them. As someone who is a leader in the HR field, I’m excited to see Disney embrace this.

Do it on your own time. (The ubiquitous 'you', of course). On your employer's time is not when you should be 'expressing yourself'...whatever that means.

Interesting these are the examples Disney PR has put out. There are no visible tattoos, no piercings, no gauges, no one is wearing nail polish, and there are no men wearing make up or skirts.Examples released by Disney -

A very welcome move. I don’t get how so many could be upset by this. I can’t imagine Elsa is going to come on the next parade float with her hair cut in to a pink graduated bob. It is possible for people to express a part of their character in work and it not impact the “storytelling”.

The "Who decides what is and isn't appropriate?" questions are kind of silly. It's the same people handling the enforcement of Disney Look already. Area management on a daily basis, a travelling team of "Disney Look" auditors occasionally, and Human Resources if there's a dispute.
A wonderful (if not unintentional) example of how little this will really impact the average guest. There are tattoos, piercings, and even *GASP* nail polish in those photos, but you didn't see that - you saw Cast Members. And those Cast Members can now feel a little more comfortable in their workplace without impacting you at all!
