You're lucky. My daughter decided to remodel the interior of her house by adding a second floor. The second floor already existed but it was just a small storage space taken up mostly by a few very high downstairs ceilings. She accepted a bid, the company got started and tore everything inside down to studs and basically disappeared. With $10,000.00 that had been over paid by the banker handling the dispensing of payment. They got nowhere with getting them to work or to give them their money back. So they fired them and figured out that they could be their own contractor with the help of a semi retired contractor that they accidentally met. They did a huge amount of the work themselves and hired specialist to take care of things that they had no knowledge of like HVAC, drywall, plumbing and electrical. They put in a lot of work but ended up paying less then the original quote was, including the lost $10,000.00.

My son in law ended up doing most of the framing, all the floors, the finish work, tiling the showers, installing the new fixtures and he did a fantastic job. I swear you would not be able to see where the paid professionals stopped and where he began. He also installed a beautiful hard wood staircase to the second level that Bob Villa would have been amazed about. It turned out OK, but it required a lot of family work of painting walls and trim and basic clean up. A lot of stuff that they had never done before. They have credited the quality of work to many hours of watching "how to" videos on YouTube. They charged about $10000.00 a month at Lowes with a BJ's (southern Costco) credit card that had a three percent cash back and didn't pay any extra for groceries for about 5 months. They are rightfully very proud of their work and have a very comfortable home with new electrical, plumbing and HVAC.

I forgot to mention that my Son In Law is an IT person by trade. Other then a little minor woodworking he had never done any of this stuff before. I would guess a natural talent is involved.

Yep, it’s been a minefield, but, I’m pretty sure we’ve got it under control now. Or, the next thing They’re gonna’ see is a high powered attorney square in their face...They LOVE that stuff, and we know a few...!!!!! ;)

See my previous post. Two totally different situations. This was a pretty burned house, and not a remodel by choice...!!!!! :hilarious:
My parents are both very capable, but, they’re both in their 80’s, and this company promised them. Believe me, myself, my 2 younger bro’s and my ‘lil sis woulda’ taken care of all of it if we had to, but, what the hell is insurance for...?!?!?!

Remember though that right now there's enhanced cleaning going on...so they have to wait for the previous people to be out of the room at 11 am (which some hotels are 10 am, so Disney is actually a bit later). They're actually steam cleaning carpets and wiping down high touch areas (you even get your TV remote in a bag with a "clean" sticker on it). It just takes longer to do. I think the room ready time used to be 3 pm for non-DVC and 4 pm for DVC...I think it's still 4 pm for DVC but now is also 4 pm for everyone else.

It does not help the housekeeper trying to clean when some families take their sweet time to check out of their rooms past check out time. The family waiting for the room keeps waiting for the room to be cleaned.

Yes, I know, I was just telling you what problem she had with contractors and what they had to do to resolve it with no insurance involved. That particular problem would apply if there was a fire or there wasn't. I know they are in their 80's and I am in my 70's and you wouldn't catch me doing that crap either. Completely different life situations, but the same type of problem with the contractors. It is a universal problem.

Extra cleaning now is true; but (starting with 2 years ago--my last visit), on that visit and the 4-5 other ones prior to that year, the rooms were not ready on time. It was often 4 - 5 PM, before I could get into my room.

Others have also documented this (in the Disney-owned hotels, in addition to Swolfin) in multiple TRs, for example. It's across the board, and may only be worse now with the enhanced cleaning, although I imagine the occupancy levels are way down now, from 2 years ago.

Might be fun, and it would be interesting to see how much of a response you receive.

As for me, I've cut back on makeup, etc., because due to wearing a mask a lot, I just don't bother. But that won't be forever, of course. (I did read recently that cosmetic sales were down across the country.) As for hair, I don't have any fancy style, so it's basically wash and go. (I did switch to non-sulfate shampoo recently though, as it's supposed to be less harsh on your hair. It's L'oreal Everpure. I like it.)

I don’t do cosmetics. Never was into them.

I've never been into cosmetics either. I used to do some eyeliner, mascara, and a little cover up & powder but I haven't bothered in quite awhile. My husband doesn't care if I wear any and more importantly I'm fine with how I look without it. My mom and sister are into it but just was never my thing. Maybe I just don't have a talent for putting it on.
