Hopefully someone younger and hipper than I am can explain this...

When Rebecca Campbell suddenly leaves after only six months on the job, does anyone care that her Instagram account goes suddenly dark and silent? When she was in the thick of it there in her President gig at Disneyland, like a full 60 days on the job and she'd learned where at least a couple of the backstage bathrooms were and almost always remembering to wear her plastic nametag and was really digging into the meat of the job, were CM's actually thinking she cared and her Instagram account was legitimate insight into an actual human who had more than a passing interest in Disneyland?

And assuming that's the case, and some CM's actually believed Rebecca Campbell was a caring leader with insightful knowledge on how to operate the Disneyland Resort, then how do you feel when she instantly disappears and leaves you? And then her Instagram account goes suddenly dark and silent. Like a second step-dad who suddenly leaves your mom and skips town and never sends you another birthday card ever, Rebecca Campbell simply doesn't care about Disneyland or its CM's any longer.

I'm just wondering, do any CM's actually believe these transient execs care about them? These TDA execs are only in the job for 6 to 18 months at a time. And their Insta accounts are expertly managed and curated. And so do savvy CM's actually think these executives care about them as humans and as CM's? Let alone actually care about Disneyland?

I just can't imagine anyone over the age of 12 would actually buy this kind of fake crap.

So what happens to her study book? I know I had a 1/4 page in it, along with other Anaheim VIP photos and descriptions.

Such a wonderful souvenir to keep and charish.

Actually, I wonder which trash can it ended up in, so I can read the bios of everyone in it....

When you get your Official Meet N' Greet with Ken Potrock, I dare you to ask...

"So how long are you here for? Six months? Or the full year?"

Let alone actually care about Disneyland?

Not to mention, do these executives have a thorough understanding of Disneyland from both a show and business perspective?

By show I mean how Disneyland is perceived by the guests- do they understand the psychology behind how it impacts its guests, what each land represents, each attraction, each show? And a working knowledge of the history of the resort as fans perceive it? And the basics of what a day at Disneyland entails from parking to security to waiting on Main Street for 3 o'clock parade.

And by business I mean the back end of things- operations (crowd flow, capacity, scheduling, ordering), food and beverage (the basics of restaurant operations and service), attraction design, and a thorough understanding of hospitality and customer service and how Disney has applied these principles over decades?

Obviously they don't need to be experts in all of these but they should definitely be able to have a working knowledge of these concepts as well as a love of Disneyland that's deeply ingrained in their psyche and a genuine desire to make the place better- both from a show and business perspective.

In an interview Ouimet talked about how he had always heard about Disneyland's impeccable cleanliness, service, and maintenance- and his shock when he hired in and found Disneyland slacking in this regard. And the work he did to fix it.

D'Amaro launched a number of cast first initiatives aimed at increasing employee satisfaction, as well as worked towards healing Disney's relationship with Anaheim. He at least seemed to genuinely love the Disney brand and I'm glad he's over Parks, Experiences, and Products.

Campbell never really stood out (though having the resort shut down gives her a huge disadvantage) but I think she'll be remembered alongside Colglazier's, Kalogridis's, and the Grier's- ultimately forgotten by fans. Not loved like Lindquist and Ouimet, but not reviled like Pressler and Harris.

You're probably right.

But at the very least we have her expertly photographed and carefully curated Instagram account, with gauzy pictures and filtered light to subtly minimize her spray-on slacks, to remind us of her six amaaazing months in Anaheim.

It was like Camelot, only shorter.

Excellent post, and I agree, she never stood out, and never really reached out to the city of Anaheim, but didn't have a need. It would have been NOW if things kept up as operating normally. So I would give her an incomplete grade. Committed no sins in the eyes of the city, but never connected with the leaders.

Ken is going to have to get into the fire very quickly. I see him having to attend a few city meetings in the next few months, and not at the DLR, but at the Sixth Floor meeting room that is used by the Chamber, Visit Anaheim and S.O.A.R. Just him, and one, maybe 2 assistants. He better be able to answer some tough questions and share his vision of the DLR in the next few years, and how it will help the city and the resort area move forward.

And no nice food and drink. Coffee and muffins.

And don't forget to bring the DLR checkbook, Ken!

We need someone like who Rober DeNiro played in Casino to run Disneyland. We need a guy like that. Someone who knows every inch of how things work and doesn't allow B.S. to occur on his watch. Vegas really was so much friendlier when the mob ran it.

Just what we need, a DLR President that uses a hammer anytime an AP gets high and mighty and says "But I'm an Annual Pass Holder".

She should start posting from Burbank. Much more exciting things going on behind the scenes there than a few dumpsters, locker rooms and maintenance bays.

If Kevin Mayer didn't leave to be CEO of Tik Tok, I believe none of these executives would have gotten shuffled or promoted.

Actually, wouldn't that be hysterical?!

Ms. Campbell should wander around the Burbank Studios campus with a photographer and take gauzy, beautifully staged Insta photos of her being inspiring while she chats with... Jim the random custodian scraping gum off a bench, or Peggy from Payroll as she battles the new printer, or Carl the dishwasher in the commissary dealing with the after-lunch mess.

It could be really... inspiring for those Studios employees. 🤣

Exactly what we need. someone who is passionate and gets the park and buts everything into it. If we had someone like this, that TOONTOWN fight would never have happened.
