Good. I, for one, look forward to finally having these under one brand, as money is no object for me. I don't want to be bothered by the riff raff and lower class who regularly inhabit the WDW theme parks. I can't believe I even allow my assistant to type these responses on my behalf on this forum, which is overrun with them. I just want to be escorted backstage to all the rides I want to do, eat at Club 33, watch fireworks from my private viewing area, and then be escorted back to my limo and go home. But I don't want to be seen on a yacht that small, I'll never live it down at the country club.

Albert, that's enough for now. Stop typing and click the 'Post Reply' button.

I said click the 'Post Reply' button! You can't even follow the simple instructions I give you and pay you well for? You're fired, I'll do it mys...

And that's how the revolution of the proletariat started.

Disney seems to be 'catering' to those wealthy! Seems like a reoccurring theme lately! Some of the offerings that use to be included are now for a price that most cannot afford! I personally don't like the direction Disney is taking, they seem to be making new events up just to get more money! The ticket prices just went up less than a month ago, MARK MY WORDS...THEY WILL GO UP AGAIN BEFORE AUGUST 31 OPENING OF SW:GE!

Like what?? From what I've read most of this stuff has been offered for a while. Chefs table, spa packages, private tours all have been offered.
Grand Floridian always had spa packages and they've always been pricey. The average visitors just didn't look into it. Basically they are just marketing it more. I didn't read one thing in the package that was previously free.
Club 33 has always been for the well heeled. Never was that even remotely cheap.

The only difference I see is that they are advertising it.

amusing to watch the mouse reach for the stars - almost want to advise mickey to watch his lane, but maybe he'll just paint new ones!

anybody alienated in the process?

THIS is the difference. Disney used to make sure the delineation between the haves and have-nots was invisible. Now they're highlighting it for Pete's sake.

We're not poor, but not well off, either. Some years we can splurge, others not so much. For a "family friendly" company to jump on the "highlight the division in society" bandwagon leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.

someone photoshop mickey ears with a crown on top... quickly before Disney reveals theirs.

They beat us to it. Whoever at Disney designed the logo does not know how crowns work.

Crowns go on top of the head, not around the neck!

If you read my comment in it's entirety, you'll see that I greatly appreciated the break Disney used to give us all from being forcibly separated into specific groups. Now they've jumped on the same band-wagon as every other media company on the planet, highlighting the differences between people, rather than being a means of bringing all people together.

Forcibly separated? No, it's completely voluntary. There's no credit check or net worth standard to be met, anyone who chooses to pay the prices for each product is admitted. Disney is a business, not a social welfare agency. That said, they also are quite involved in philanthropy, but have to have to generate sufficient profit to sustain it. In 2018, Disney gave more than $332.8 million to nonprofit organizations helping kids, families, and communities in need through charitable cash giving, in-kind contributions, and public service announcements.

And apparently my point has gone completely over your head.

JUST THROWING THIS HYPOTHESIS OUT THERE. This is just a discussion point question.

Does anyone think that Disney is looking at general economy and figuring that now is time to sort of milk the golden cafe?

I'm thinking this way. middle age and older folks have had 10 years of solid growth in their savings. Folks jobs seem pretty stable (overall) consumer spending is up and consumer confidence is good (according to the gurus). The only fly in the proverbial ointment is the youngins who are just entering the market who unfortunately are saddled with a lot of debt and even sort of politically/socially we're cool. what I mean by that is there are currently, no big social upheaval like the housing crash where tens of 1000's where losing their jobs.

Maybe the execs at mouseworld are saying, "hey folks are feeling pretty good right now, when you feel good you feel like spending" and taking advantage of that.

just thinking
