Ehh. It looks really nice, but too bland for a Disney hotel. Michael Eisner had the right idea by hiring world-renowned architects from outside of the company to help create the iconic resorts WDW is known for.

If they wanted it to look like "Disney" nature, given their current proclivities, they should design the resort in the style of the Bullion Depository at Fort Knox.

Considering the development around it, I'd say while the hole full of water may be original to the property, almost nothing else around it is.

The modernity doesn't bother me. Even the Polynesian had a contemporary flair when it opened. I'll be interested to see more about the project. It definitely isn't the most inspired looking place, but it could be lovely.

So this is that 'Reflections' resort Jim Hill was talking about? The one targeting people who used to enjoy the camping aspects of WDW but don't really want to camp anymore.

Reserving judgement until more art is released. Hard to assess one way or the other quite yet. At the very least, I'm glad it's not a monster tower as we've seen in other spots. Also glad it's not DVC only.

Remember all the people crying that this would be a 100% DVC property? Swing and a miss.

Also, why would they build 100% DVC resort? They do so much better financially by making the resorts a combo of deluxe and DVC.

Seems to confirm that Disney is moving away from themed resorts in the traditional sense of the term.

I'm sure it will be nice enough, but it doesn't look any more themed than any decent example of hotel architecture designed to fit its surroundings. The lack of a theme is obvious from the fact they don't even know what to call it yet.

Some will like it, some will not. A definite change of direction for Walt Disney World, though. Fits with the new Coronado tower (modern hotel with Barcelona-inspired aesthetic) and makes me think the Riviera will be about as themed as the current concept art suggests.

It isn't Riveria at Caribbean Beach. It is Disney's Riviera Resort.

It's a resort. Once on property, costs nothing to visit.

The property can have a theme without its setting being that of another time or place.
