Remember when TDO used to make celebrations actually have unique experiences to them? One being the Summer Nightastic! event in 2010, where they created a new drop sequence and effects for Tower of Terror.
Epcot has been in a unique drop sequence for at least 15 years in which it seemingly reaches rock bottom and then…scream!…it sinks even lower!

We all would love to see the company actually make an effort during celebrations. That’s not Disney anymore. They have parks that are packed almost daily year round now. Hotels are full for the most part. They are making money hand over fist. Why would we expect them to spend a penny more for something that will cost money and they can’t get more people in the park anyway. They actually don’t want to deal with that. This is a different Disney from the past and as much as we, the people that have loved this park for decades want them to continue things from the past, it’s not going to happen. Just enjoy your cupcake if you go and that’s it.

I hear the queue has already started for it. It's just a blue box, though, they couldn't think of anything more creative for the 40th.
You will need to watch the Big Thunder graphic for 72 hours (don’t you dare reload or fall asleep!) in order to secure of VQ that guarantees the opportunity to buy a $49 bucket but only while supplies last and as long as it is sunny but not over 90 degrees.
