I think Dinosaur will last another year or two. Probably won’t get confirmed project plans until closer to that time. Maybe announced at the D23 Not Expo next year, but that will still be too soon to see actual construction.
I’m hearing a strong rumor that none other than Disney / Marvel / Epcot composer Pinar Toprak has been commissioned for this show. She did the new Epcot anthem for the Spaceship Earth show, so logically this makes sense. Can anyone confirm?
Amazing this all turned out this way. They went back to the old drawing board because of irreconcilable issues with the Shanghai Zootopia ride story being overlayed onto Dinosaur’s ride system and track in the USA. The police are also an issue. This is one of those weird situations where yeah...
I just hate to be the bearer of bad news… 😈
But seriously, I wish I had happier things to speak about. The company is still in a dark period and I think it will take the removal of both Bob Iger and Josh D’Amaro to fix.
For those of you that still have doubts, just listen into the earnings...
To be clear, it’s not a clone of Shanghai, it’s a re-theme of Dinosaur.
Anyway…
I think my reputation stands for itself, aside from still being bewildered on who pushed through Princess and the Frog (which I still believe to be a huge mistake) to re-theme Splash Mountain in Florida, my track...
A brand new Moana ride will take longer to build from scratch than a re-theme of an existing ride. I guarantee you that anyone you call a “trusted insider” would generally agree with me.
Zootopia will make it significantly worse. I don’t particularly like this plan, but it is the plan, like it...
I don’t know what Jim is on. There’s no chance of Coco going in on that site. Funding has already been allocated for the Dinoland re-development project. It is Zootopia. Moana is actually secondary. Not sure where all the other stuff is coming from, but I figured it was time I stopped by to...
The mist in the upper caverns of the mountain was value engineered. It was meant to be LN2 but was VEd to become water based. (Nozzle costs and pipes were a huge factor during construction, we’re talking thousands of dollars versus millions here) The problem arose when the water would start to...
Don is doing just fine. Disney doesn’t have him on the payroll anymore as far as I can tell, but he did do a lot of work on Universal Beijing’s parade recently, so I know he’s still out about and working. Heck, if you could get Don involved on a project that he actually wants to do, I’m sure it...
