    Hurricane Irma

At AKL they aren't letting us anywhere near the debris. We are only allowed to be in areas where there is structured coverage like a roof above us.

    Hurricane Irma

All morning they had CMs standing in front of the doors so we could not leave the premises. They've now opened up the walkway near the restaurants and arcade, but most walkways are still blocked by CMs and managers due to downed trees, etc. This tree fell on the roof above Jiko, is also...

    Hurricane Irma

For those of you asking about the animals, while I of course can't speak for the parks, I can say that all animals at the lodge were brought to safety. You could hear some of them making noises in the building they were being held in. Interestingly, the springbok were the last to go in (they...

    Hurricane Irma

Here at AKL, there is a leak in the ceiling above the corridor between Jiko and Boma that had been growing for a while. This afternoon it was just a bucket and around 8:30pm it grew to a few buckets and towels everywhere. The lights flickered during dinner and the wind keeps getting louder and...

    Hurricane Irma

I was just watching the weather channel and they were explaining that the Category of a storm is based on sustained winds, but the gusts can be much higher. *edit- @cosmicgirl beat me to it!

    Hurricane Irma

We have a very similar message posted on the resort TV here. Earlier it said the three restaurants would be closing at 3 but now they've updated it to The Mara, Boma and Sanaa having "dining available" with no specific times. Club level cast said meals would be served until approx 9:30 at Boma...

    Hurricane Irma

DH and I are here at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I can't believe the level of service and kindness I'm seeing so far. The Mara, Boma and Sanaa were all open for breakfast this morning with their normal menu and the last update on the TV says that they will be open until 3pm. Right now Rafiki is...

    Dollar store poncho?

Those look really nice. I like the longer sleeves and length. We've been using the same Disney ponchos for years, but I feel like I am swimming in them because they are so wide and I dislike having my whole arm being wet. I was thinking of looking into something more like a raincoat for my...

    Which park on departure day?

We usually do one of two things on our last day. The first, which we do most often, is spend our last hours at our favorite park (in our case this is Animal Kingdom). We go without anything specific planned, no FPs or ADRs, just wandering and doing whatever we feel like in the moment. We will...

What is your favorite WDW Music for relaxing/studying/working, etc...?

I get this and "Miracles from Molecules" stuck in my head all the time. For relaxing, my favorites are the background loop from Future World, Space Mountain queue music and any loops from DAK or AKL. SInce it's now Summer, I also find the Polynesian loop pretty wonderful.
