    Compression socks?

I use them for recovery after a really long run, or after a demanding workout. The difference with and without using them is apparent. Friends use them during practice and races, and say they are worth it. The Active offers make them a great price to try a pair.

    Race Warmup Question

I agree with Joel on this. Do enough to increase your circulation, at an easy pace, maybe even start to break a sweat. Have fun!

    New Runner with a Goal...Suggestions?

Welcome! I think everyone is giving you good advice on finding a plan to get started. Find a plan that fits you and follow its guidance. This was not mentioned above so I will say it here - You can adjust training plans to fit your life - it may say "do this" on Monday and Wednesday may...

    What did you do?

Good point! The 20 minute push into the uncomfortable is the piece that brings the training together and helps to realize the most gains in fitness endurance. I find myself saying, yes it was a good run - can we do that again?

    What did you do?

Here is what I can share easily. This is similar information to what is in running books/magazines. The difference is I get to read it, hear it, and experience it simultaneously in the training sessions. Everyone has different techniques and this just happens to be some of what I am learning...

    What did you do?

I had to share this. Yesterday evening, I ran my fastest 5 mile loop. 2.5 miles uphill, 2.5 miles downhill. Very, very pleased with this. The sponsors of an upcoming 5k arranged for the coaches and athletes of the Zap Fitness team to provide 5 weeks of training sessions to registrants...

If anyone is interested in volunteering at the Expo or 5K races... Earlier today, there appeared to be volunteer spots still available at the Expo Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, as well as at the 5K races on Friday morning. From the main WWOS Disney Marathon event page, select Events...

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

You can count on a half marathon Volunteer Event report. When it opened up as an option, it looked like a great way to see a new side to the event. I know I appreciated all the volunteers cheering us on at the 2011 races - and see it as a way to cheer others on - in the middle of the course...

    Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

I am looking forward to the 2012 races. To get a different perspective - I signed up as a volunteer to help give out Powerade/Water during the half marathon on Saturday. Then I plan to complete the full marathon on Sunday.

This looks like an "interesting" 5K

Not to digress from the Zombie run.... In the theme of warrior dashes and spartan runs - If anyone is in North Carolina 09/24/2011 there is "The Gauntlet Run". This is the second year. Last year I participated and had a great time. The run has enough obstacles and challenging terrain so at...
