It’s amazing how many people consider fish a vegetable. Reminds me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding: “What do you mean he don’t eat no meat? That’s okay - I’ll make lamb.”

I could never get an authentic lamb vindaloo at my nearby Indian restaurant. I think they took one look at me and decided I wouldn’t be able to handle the spice level. So we get it delivered . . .

We missed our chance at a coordinated national response. I don't mean treating all areas the same, but providing some type of uniform guidance based on specified circumstances.

Well I know Chicago is going over and above to discourage travel from certain states - there are 14-day self quarantine orders but clearly they can't be enforced in any meaningful way. Political boundaries don't work so well with a virus. It's too easy to go to Wisconsin or Indiana to avoid...

Illinois was the second state to issue a shelter in place order, masks became mandatory in businesses and public places on May 1, and the state opened slowly with 28 days between phases instead of 14. Outdoor dining was allowed in June and indoor with severe restrictions in July. Hair salons...

People nowadays have it too easy. In the old days, when you wanted to laugh at someone, you had to reply to the post, call up a list of emojis, choose between 😆 😂 and 🤣 and then take your chances with having the post deleted. That's the way it was and we LIKED it! Disclaimer: This is a joke.

No, I meant it's a lot to expect of a moderator, not the person posting - first the moderator has to figure out whether someone is joking, then figure out the intent of the person laughing. When I said "you," I wasn't using it in the generic sense. I really meant you. Sorry if it was unclear.

I've seen arguments go on over 5 pages on whether something was or was not a joke. Now you have to figure out why people are laughing? Seems a lot to expect. Wasn't there a guy on here not long ago who was laughing at just about everything?

Thanks for replying. That sounds reasonable.

Sorry, I deleted that post because I didn’t mean to ask for any person’s specifics, just generally asking what type of disability would be covered under the ADA. If a condition is covered by the ADA, I would think some reasonable accommodation would be required - it’s not like there’s a Covid...

I can't imagine who would choose the virtual option either unless the goal is simply not to have children in classrooms at this point of the pandemic. Maybe some parents who are comfortable with home schooling?

Thanks for the reply. My daughter and son-in-law are struggling with this, although their situation involves daycare being closed rather than a home schooling issue. He's a nurse; she is trying to work from home, but as you noted, it's not easy to get anything done. I can't imagine how my...

Thanks for giving a thoughtful answer based on reality and not wishful thinking lol. The virus that is forcing people to isolate is bringing some together in ways we didn't imagine would happen. I was thinking in terms of disadvantaged families, but whether one likes it or not, there are many...

News Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

One thing I've been wondering about is how home learning is working in families where both parents have jobs that require them to work outside the home during the day. If a family is so disadvantaged that it doesn't have computers or internet, is it likely there is a parent home to supervise...

    Children Returning to Schools

That's probably happening in my area too. I think the city school districts, both public and private, have made their decisions, but there are numerous suburban school districts under local control. If some decide to open and others don't, I'm not sure how much the ones that remain closed are...
