ABC is a big part of Disney as is ESPN but box scores can be collected and displayed via automation as can highlights from a game yes it requires a small amount of human input as to what snippets to promote but beyond that automation.

So you're suggesting that Disney will eventually fail because Amazon could create their own automated Sportscenter?

Oh.

That's very different.

Nevermind.

😬

SportsCenter was basically made irrelevant by the Internet -- people no longer need to watch a show at a specific time to see highlights and scores; they can look it up whenever. ESPN is still doing very well for Disney, but it's due to broadcasting live sports.

Anyway, I was agreeing with his point that suggesting Amazon was going to crush Disney by making their own Sportscenter was ludicrous.

Referring to Guests / consumers as things that need to have their potential yields managed ...and heavily exploited .....

Yeah.

Doesn't give you a nice magical feeling.
Feelings of contempt, perhaps?

Call it a cynical view, but being labeled that should douse the feverant twinkle in even the brightest Pixiedusters enthusiasim for what is coming very soon.
Look out....

The FAANG's (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) don't have to crush Disney all they need to do is make Disney's cash cow programming irrelevant. Everything that SportsCenter does can be reduced to an app and largely automated, They only thing they cant do is the talking heads arguing with each other.

Think classified ads in the age of Craigslist, Classifieds were the high profit cash cow of local newspapers till craigslist made them irrelevant

Not thrilled to hear their disastrous fast pass replacement plan seems to be coming soon. They should at least give it time to correct their mistakes in Paris or just realize it’s a bad idea that burns out customers.

Disney Streaming is growing much faster than Netflix. Disney+ 116 million subscribers, ESPN+ 14.9 million. HULU alone 39.1, HULU with live TV 3.7 million. Total 173.7 million between the 3 services. So when will they pass Netflix?
I don’t think it’s fair to add them all up because you’re double-counting a lot of customers and triple-counting those with the bundle. But I do think they’ll pass Netflix in the foreseeable future which was definitely not what people thought two years ago.
