One Sentence: Platinum Edition - A 20th Anniversary Special

I suppose the question remains which penguin movie is your favorite? Happy Feet, Surfs Up or The Pebble and the Penguin?

As a kid, I was obsessed with Surfs Up, I got all the Happy Meal toys and everything

Apparently a lot of people deep in the zoo community are do not love pandas due to their popularity, but I am personally so excited to go see my first panda next month at Atlanta!

Pandas are fine in and of themselves and my first time checking them off my list was super exciting, but it's the fact that the Chinese government owns all of the pandas in the world (except the pair at the Mexico City Zoo that were gifts) and it's a $2 million/year rent for each panda, including any born from rented pandas, therefore, having a breeding pair (when they freaking breed, they're useless at it) and a single cub runs you about $6 million every year you have them, then once they grow up, you have to ship them back to China on your own dime as well. When there are so many animals far more endangered and far easier to keep, I, and many others, just find them a total waste of space and money.

(Would live any tips from other zoo lovers on how to apporach the Atlanta Zoo, @PerGron any advice?)

All that being said, I'd absolutely make sure to get to those pandas, but I'd do it later in the day, don't rush to them as that's what everyone does and it forms huge crowds. I'd rope drop the zoo (assuming you only have one day) and hit the indoor exhibits first. I'm not sure what Atlanta Zoo's current Covid-19 protocol is, but if buildings are limited capacity, the lines build up later in the day. Also, lunch either early or late as you want to waste as little time possible in lines because Atlanta is insanely huge. Easily one of the best in the country and I'd personally want to hit every inch of it haha

This challenge was tough as many people took very different directions that quite frankly were unexpected! Some you went fictional, some wild, and even a few domesticated animals snuck their way into the prompts. Now with that said you all had some amazing animal picks, but unfortunately I have to do rankings. However you all did amazing this week!

While insects typically give me the heebie jeebies you were able to sell me on these ants! The ability to look into the ant tunnels alongside with learning information of a variety of species is a neat gimmick as it teaches guests that not all ants are the same! Two antennaes way up!

A great expansion of the species and biomes represented at Animal Kingdom is seen through your project! The spider crab adds another cool looking animal to the entrance of the park, and it is one that many have likely not seen before. However those that do would likely be mesmerized by the size and the way you were able to incorporate the natural behaviors of scavenging.

Great work from you once again with some great images to boot! Just like @Evilgidgit you went the route of adding representation for a biome that is rather underrepresented in Animal Kingdom, and were able to masterfully pair real world animals with the fictional bioluminescence of Pandora. The only concern here is the availability of these species for captivity as the three you mentioned each have their own set of unique issues. With that in mind it was still highly imaginative, detailed, and added animals to the only land currently without any in Animal Kingdom. Overall great job!

That's right this challenge we have two first place winners! This week you both were able to successfully add new and interesting animals to the park's existing collection in Asia. The focus on conservation and repopulation that both projects had aiding in pushing these projects to the top as it gives good justification for Disney to keep the species.

@PerGron while this was your first submission it was still really detailed. Your passion for animals shone through, and this is reflected in the enrichment chosen for the animal doing something that I have yet to be seen in any of the Florida zoos which is the addition of fake icy snow for the animals which I think was an igneous way to aid in simulating their natural environment.

@montydysquith-navarro much like PerGron's your passion for your animal shown for, perhaps it is a thing of pride as the animal and you are from The Philippines? Either way the mission of conserving the pigs is a noble one given that reports show that they're extinct in 98% of their original range, and a percentage that is still eerily growing. The treatment of these animals as wild with the implantation of food in the ground for their foraging abilities is a smart move, and the hidden feeders help in the visualization of this exhbit.​

Red pandas are rarely seen outside of the AZA, but it does happen and they're significantly cheaper, a few thousand maybe?

As for the aquarium, aquariums are tough as they're more linear so you can't really pick and choose what you want to see first. However, obviously the big ticket items are the manta rays and whale sharks (the only aquarium outside of Asia that houses either species)

For this challenge we board or planes and head over Shanghai Disneyland were a unique problem has popped up due to censorship laws. Winnie the Pooh, just the character none of his friends, is banned from Chinese media which is evident in the most recent Kingdom Hearts game in which Pooh is merely a white blob! With this rather unfortunate occurrence in China it places the existing Winnie the Pooh ride in Shanghai in a sticky predicament that we're about to unsticky!

-Challenge-
Create a new traditional Fantasyland dark ride to replace The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in Shanghai Disneyland.

-Rules-
You may use up one to two sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Wednesday, June 30th at 10:00 PM EST.

-Bonus Challenge-
For an additional point, include a special effect within your ride. This can be 3D screens, Pepper's Ghost, Smellitizers, water sprays, unique vehicle movements at points, etc. just any additional special effect to really make this ride pop!

Miguel’s Musical Adventure

A brand new attraction based on Coco, the second highest grossing animated movie distributed by Disney in China, will be taking over The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at Fantasyland to create an instant classic that will be loved by guests of all ages.

On Miguel’s Musical Adventure, the guests will join Miguel and Dante as they travel to the Land of the Dead using a magical chord on his great grandfather’s guitar, where Miguel will be looking for inspiration to compose a brand new song to showcase his love and respect for those who’ve come before him and forged the way for his future.

BONUS: With the help of projection mapping and the 2.5D technology used in Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, when the guests transition from the land of the living into the land of the dead and viceversa, everything in the room will appear to have been transformed into cempasúchil flowers until they enter the next scene.​

Paint The Pooh Animatronics White & Add Lights To Them (This Isn’t My Real Submission Don’t Count This)

The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast

​

Replacing one “trackless” darkride with another, this attraction is slightly similar to Tokyo’s ride with the same name except that this ride is mostly told through the Beast‘s perspective. Later on, Disney hopes to turn Honey Pot Spin into Mrs. Potts’ Teacup Spin, and move Enchanted Tales with Belle to this new BATB mini land.
Bonus: As ride vehicles make their way through the Be Our Guest scene, the cars “dance” along to the music.

TIM BURTON'S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Based on 1993 film, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, Boarding spooky coffin and flying through Halloween Town as we will joining our pumpkin king, Jack Skellington was planning to delivering presents for Christmas Eve dress as Sandy Claws, But beware of Oogie Boogie, he's planning to kidnap Santa Claus along with his henchmen, Lock, Barrel and Shock.

Bonus:
This dark ride will have scary parts as special effects like smell, smoke and fire, projections, Pepper's Ghost, musical score by Danny Elfman.
When Oogie Boogie sends his scary casino cowboys animatronics to shoot down the guests in his lair, the small fire effect goes off.
During Christmas Town scene "What's This?" as projections shows Jack was jumping over the snowy hills, as he looks to sneak peek on Santa's Workshop, as looking around some Elf's houses, as Jack climbs into the Christmas tree as he replaces a regular star with Mickey Mouse doll star on top of Christmas tree.
The song list for the dark ride: "This is Halloween" , "What's This?", "Kidnap the Sandy Claws", "Oogie Boogie's Song", and "Finale".

I hate having to replace a clone of Disney World's Pooh attraction, that's my favorite dark ride. But at least in this prompt the original Florida version is spared...

Robin Hood: Adventures in Sherwood Forest

Become a member of Robin Hood's Merry Men and take a hike through Sherwood Forest, robbing from the rich to give to the poor. Each ride vehicle is armed with a "bow and arrow" so you can actually shoot at targets a la the Buzz Lightyear attractions.

BONUS: The ride makes use of projection mapping to make the "arrows" riders shoot actually land on their targets.

Join Mary Poppins, Bert, Michael and Jane on jumping into the painting, as we will go musical fun in English countryside with Mary and Bert as penguin waiters dancing with Bert, well as horse racing well as "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" part, as we jumped out of the painting as we will joining chimney fellas to dancing to "Step in Time", as finale "Let's Go Fly A Kite" we will flying over the skies with the kites flying over London as Mary Poppins saying good bye to the guests.

Bonus:
This dark ride will have eight minutes length with musical scenes as this is longest dark ride ever.
Jumping into Painting scene will be most impress special effect you will ever have, the musical score will by

ALICE’S ADVENTURE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

Board your chess piece and join Alice on a wacky adventure through the looking glass, into a topsy-turvy version of Wonderland that’s even curiouser and curiouser than before, where you’ll meet new characters from Carroll’s creation such as the White Queen, the Mock Turtle, even the dreaded Jabberwocky, plus old familiar characters like the Cheshire Cat and Caterpillar, all while your ride vehicles act out an elaborate life size game of chess.

Serving as a sequel to Disney’s 1951 animated classic, a tech upgrade to Disneyland’s dark ride (a purpose also served by Shanghai’s Peter Pan), and a revival of a lost Tokyo Disneyland concept, this Adventure Through the Looking Glass transforms much of northeastern Fantasyland - including the teacups-style Hunny Pot Spin and the Wonderland Maze - into a sprawling Alice area without equal.

BONUS: The titular passage through the looking glass is achieved with a variation on the mirror portal effect seen on Florida’s Enchanted Tales with Belle, plussed with some two-way mirror trickery. ​

MR. TOAD'S MOTOR MANIA

You will join Mr. Toad as riding 1900s-era roadsters as we will zooming into Toad Hall as crashing into rooms as as speeding through streets of London as chasing by the weasel gang, as entering the court room as the judge send you into the prison as we escape from the prison as the cops chasing us as we will getting almost hitting by a train, as we will aheading crashing into the farmhouse and dodging sheeps and horses, splashes into the river, as crashing Moley's treehouse as Ratty and Moley are cheerful for Mr. Toad as the unloading takes place in Toad Hall.

BONUS:
This ride will have sharp turns, there will be some dark ride parts for the ride, speeding, water, smoke and fire effects, projections, loud sound, and some scary parts and this based on 1949 film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. This ride uses EMV system like Indiana Jones but this will have smaller ride vehicles themed to 1900s-era roadsters.
