MANTICORE'S TAVERN

Pixar-Onward-Manticore.jpg

Journey down the Path of Peril and begin your culinary quest at Manticore's Tavern, once a fabled meeting place for magical adventurers, now reopened by its owner Corey (after a lengthy remodel) into a family-friendly restaurant which combines Chuck E. Cheese's, Medieval Times, and sword & sorcery epics into a singularly scintillating setting.

The world of Pixar's Onward replaces Paradise Garden Grill, where a mossy thicket of trees (and Barley's beloved van Guinevere) leads to a detailed tavern complete with a costumed Manticore mascot, interactive games like "Smite-the-Knight" or a "Gauntlet" claw machine, magical artifacts, enchanted "Wall of Adventure" portraits, and Phoenix Gem place mats for the children.

Counter service "pub grub" style food - served in plastic cauldrons - includes playful names like Griffin Nuggets, Roast Beast, and Kraken Legs, while beverages (called "potions" on the menu) include themed sodas such as Mt. Mist, Mt. Doom, Cloak Root Ale, and Dr. Fizzard.

Inspired by director Domee Shi's short Bao and her upcoming feature Seeing Red comes a delicious table service Dim Sum place influenced by Californian-Chinese fusion culture, with the specialty of the house of course being bao, AKA buns, be it stuffed with soup, char siu pork, steamed, pan fried, filled with eggs for breakfast, or even dessert bao with custard!

Seize Your Moment Cafe

Replacing Paradise Garden Grill is a new restaurant celebrating the life and food of Mexico through the movie Coco. You can buy delicious entrees like tamales, tacos, and mole or sweet desserts like stuffed churros, tres leche cake, and sopaipillas in this cafe themed to the Rivera's shoe shop. To keep the same style of food from repeating in the park, Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill will be changed to a new restaurant that fits in with the Pacific Wharf theme so Seize Your Moment Cafe can shine in Pixar Pier.

The Incredibles Hideout Kitchen

Designed like a traditional spyhouse, this restaurant has all of the gadgets and dossiers of the Supers in the Incredibles. You will need a 3-course meal to digest the classified information (found on TVs, standing props, and menus) for your upcoming mission to stop one of the Incredibles greatest nemeses. To satisfy even the littlest of Incredibles in a family, the menu will be favorite American eats--burgers, sandwiches, and pizzas.

DEFINE DINING

lief 2.jpg

Joining Pixar Pier as a split QSR/TSR, providing a quicker and cheaper alternative to the Lamplight Lounge while still offering filling meals and a place to sit down. DEFINE DINING serves Axiom themed smoothie "meals" for breakfast, stays a QSR during lunch proving four styles of "true Earth" pizza, cheese, pepperoni, gluten-free cheese, and a weekly special. For dinner it becomes a TSR that serves eco-friendly vegetarian and vegan meals.

Since Pixar Pier makes no sense & is just IP central it might as well be given a restaurant that canonically takes place in Paris despite the area being a pier in California. So anyway come to Pixar Pier in DCA to eat up some yummy concoctions thought up by Remy the rat (not really that would be bad please come we don’t have rats) including the best ratatouille you’ve ever had (in a theme park)!

Review Time!
Thanks for so many intriguing ideas!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
This new Inside Out themed eatery, found near Emotional Whirlwind, serves themed takes on classic quick-service snacks and treats. Inspired by emotional combinations mentioned at the end of the film, food items range from Joy-Anger strawberry lemonade to Anger-Fear hot dogs. Every guest will be sure to enjoy the many zany offerings of Food for Thought.
Nice idea here - will definitely blend in well with the Inside Out area and the colorful designs of the film lend itself well to a eatery.
Al's Toy Bar
View attachment 545621
After his bitter loss of his prized toys (and no money coming his way from that Japanese museum), Al decided to open a bar on the Pier to give his life some purpose again. Located across from Toy Story Mania, this bar is open air, though the structure is still reminiscent of Al's Toy Bar as seen in Toy Story 2. With a good selection of beers and bar food, there's no reason to be a chicken when it comes to Al's Toy Bar!
That's in yen right? .... Dollars???

Wasn't expecting a bar with a Pixar theme - but this would be fitting for Al to wallow in sorrows by opening a bar
IL RISTORANTE DI MASSIMO

View attachment 545633

Pixar Pier continues to expand with a new Neighborhood based on Pixar’s Luca taking over Paradise Gardens and Goofy’s Sky School, and a new immersive dining experience is cooking up.

Il Ristorante di Massimo is replacing Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta, and the whole building will be rethemed to match the aesthetic of the beautiful Italian Riviera that inspired the fictional town of Portorosso; additionally, it will use similar technology to Space 220, which means that you’ll be able to see fantastical occurrences through the windows from time to time, like Luca and Alberto transforming from sea creatures to humans as they jump in and out of the sea.

Il Ristorante di Massimo is owned by Massimo, the father of Luca and Alberto’s human friend, who decided to retire from fishing and open a sea creature friendly restaurant; at Il Ristorante di Massimo you’ll be able to enjoy the most delicious gelatto and authentic Italian Riviera cuisine like farinata, pasta alla genovese, corzetti con salsa di noci, among others.
This is very unique! Love the usage of Italian as well - interesting how it will also use the tech of Space 220 as well. Would definitely be an intriguing dining experience!
Incredibites!

INC2_FAM_P1.43_v3.jpg

Located near the Incredicoaster is the striking red and black exterior of this quick service fast food restaurant that is inspired by the iconic superhero family, serving up some classic American fast food like the Elastisticks (mozzarella sticks), Dash's Popcorn Chicken (perfect for a quick meal), and the Mr. Incrediburger (a hearty double bacon cheeseburger that'll leave you feeling like a hero).
I like the unique menu items here, and would fit in very well with the Incredicoaster which to me is the best part of the Pixar Pier overlay
Mike Wazowski's new bistro brings a taste of Monstropolis to California, with delicious food that monsters love to snack on when not making kids laugh - from sushi fresh from Harryhausen's to bilge berry-flavored slushies. A good number of the selections on the menu and decorations hanging up on the walls here are green (simply because Mike likes the color or because HE'S green and is also pretty egotistical? You be the judge!).
Sushi in Cali is a very good choice as it would fit in quite well. I like how you also referenced in-film restaurants while also trying to create something original.
HARRYHAUSEN'S
HarryHausens-ad.jpg
The finest, most monstrous dining experience in Monstropolis comes to Pixar Pier, a rich sushi and seafood bar with plenty of healthy food options, a great atmosphere, and photo ops with the eight-armed chef himself (in animatronic form!) And you don't need to be called Googlybear to get a reservation.
Monsters Inc for sure a popular film here given the in-film restaurant! Much like Brer - a nice idea for a Sushi restaurant.

An underrated film - this would be quite the option in Pixar Pier. Definitely wasn't something I was considering at first, but I appreciate the menu items as well as the unique IP choice!

This is an excellent blend of California Cuisine with an original short! Very nice concept here, this would be something that would add nuance to the land that I think a lot of locals and DCA fans (those exist right?) would appreciate.

Really like the Coco tie-in, as well as the menu items here. This I believe would truly satisfy the diverse local population in So Cal as well!

Very intriguing choice here. While a safer IP - this is a direction unto itself and would be a neat way of adding into the existing landscape but making it more original than its current incarnation.

This is a really good idea! A great way to continue a big's life in the parks while sastifying the west coast lifestyle in terms of the new popular vegan diets!

Nice job with the vegan entries as well as the Wall-E tie-in! A very underused IP in the parks

Results!
See I already am giving out multiple awards, but since there are so many ideas, and some quite similarly great, the tag team winners had comparable aspects that I felt would stand out in Pixar Pier.

Ps5WGu1.png

@ThemeParkPriest
While a traditional IP and one of the anchors of Pixar Pier in The Incredibles, you took that and turned it into something very original!

L30Y5yp.png

@DisneyFan18 and @NateD1226
Both took advantage of exquisite menu items and research into the culture - something that would definitely benefit Pixar Pier in the attention to detail category!

zihTg3C.png

@Tegan pilots a chicken and @pix
Both excellent for including vegan options and green eating! Something that in-park dining needs more of. Great ideas!

DrRz15D.png

@Solaris Knight and @D Hulk

Using odd-ball IPs, even going as far as a Pixar short, your menu items plus intriguing setups separated you both from the rest of the submissions!
