I'm guessing the state will say something about theme parks within the next couple of weeks at the latest, especially if trends continue the way they are (and they most likely will).
I'm pretty sure California was counting on a federal bailout in the fifth stimulus bill. Since that seems more unlikely now, I wouldn't be too surprised if Newsom et al have a sudden change of heart and want to accelerate reopening to curb tax losses. I guess they could wait until the election and hope they take congress and the white house and then retroactively bail themselves out, but that seems far from certain at this point. They might start wishing they were open already.

So you'll be able to walk around the park but not actually do anything. Lends credence to the theory that DL will open for people to walk around but not actually ride anything.

I think if the numbers are down to a decently controlled/contained level there's no reason not to just open the whole park. The science has increasingly supported that the chance of transmission through surfaces is low, and while it's better to spend time outdoors than in, most indoor experiences at the park aren't actually that long, give or take a Pirates or Small World or two.

I get and generally support taking the cautious route (masks, reservations, limited capacity, etc), but even I think the state's a little TOO cautious at this point in regards to its theme parks.

It makes me actually wonder if that’s even a possibility. What would be there? I love Disney ambience so incredibly much, but at what cost?

Also, it makes me wonder which health professional would deem waiting in line to enter Costco much safer than waiting in line for the Haunted mansion, after health checks, mask policing, and intense attendance caps. Or how everyone removing masks and dining inside was acceptable but even outdoor theme park operations are not. Or how riding Incredicoaster outdoors will be a bigger safety concern than congregating in Main Street (I say that as the equivalent is Sea World opening without rides but with the congregating in park anyway). Honestly, if I were Disney talking to Sacramento, I’d just point them to the success of the operations of literally any other theme parks—and most of their own around the world—and call it a day.

What would you pay, if anything, for either of these two experiences:

1) For the family: Your family is escorted down Main St by a princess to Fantasy Faire's open air theater for refreshments and a token meal. Afterwards, pirates take you down to Frontierland's dock where you board the Columbia for a trio of trips around TSI while having dessert, watching a token stunt show on the masts above your head, and take in the evening air and lights.

2) For adults "Your attention please! Passengers with French Market reservations please board the Disneyland Railroad." Upon arrival a sultry siren sets the mood while you enjoy a cocktail and some shared plates. When your boarding time arrives, you are escorted to Frontierland's dock where you board the Mark Twain for a trio of trips around TSI while having a cocktail and dessert, enjoy a Dixieland group, and take in the evening air and lights.

I hope you work for the Disney company because these are great proposals. 😂 while I’d prefer my parks as they were Intended—with a Dole Whip then a squat on the Jungle Cruise—if hands were tied, I’d welcome this for sure. I doubt they’d permit me to ride the Columbia, Mark Twain, or have shared plates though 😢honestly, I’d pay like $50 for an evening of wandering the park, then watching Fantasmic with a glass of wine (even though “no shows”... but if they make this an exclusive event, then what difference does this make, Amiright?)

I'm new to this world. What is the unnameable site and why is it so?
It is unnameable because it is a name that the moderator of this site (and most other Disney message boards) do not allow to be posted. I presume because of all of the issues with the site from false information to blatant lies, but I don't know for sure all of the reasons. As for what the site is, well, I will leave it to others if they want to figure out a way to tell you without getting into trouble.

There are actually two sites that are banned from referencing. The "Today" site because he posts false leads and gets called on it and goes berserk over it and not pleasant. He and this site's management had a falling out and this site's management doesn't want to reinflame things with (lengthy) discussion of that site or to get the fans of this and that site to squabble. The other site is "Easy" and is a friend of the other sight and similarly banned. Look up "Corless" and you'll find the sites. Not recommended to use either. Their site names are in the censored word list of the forum and will just get asterisked out.

Why does this site censor the name of the male co-star in Mary Poppins?
I can say Richard Van ****

Neither of you have received permission to use Mr. Van Dyke's name. I can because Dick and me are friends from when we worked together.
