Trip Report The Tuvalu Chronicles ~ Chapter 25 *COMPLETED*

Welcome, welcome, welcome to my 25th trip report.

Over the past five years, I have loved chronicling my WDW adventures with fellow forum readers who share my Disney passion. Writing keeps the magic alive for me. Discussions that result from your comments are icing on the cake! I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read my posts. (And for those of you who have been following from the beginning ~ THANK YOU!!)

All my reports have been live, live-ish, or shortly-afterwards.....except one. In 2016 I wrote a retro TR detailing my first visit to the park that forever captivated my heart. You can read about it here. Or you can merely mock the photo below which is proof positive I cannot pull off wearing a hat.

Similar in style to last summer’s novel, this report will incorporate my June, July and August vacations. The ship has already sailed for a live report for June, but I may attempt some live updates in July/August. Or not. :hilarious:

Trip #1
Who: Tuvalu and Em
When: June 8-13, 2019
Where: Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Did we meet the Wicked Queen? Who got shoved in the Haunted Mansion? Did the rain rain rain come down down down? Was there an attraction evac? Did one of us really cause a ride to shut down?

Answers to come!

(Special thanks to @krisri18 for another trip report title! 💕)

Just finished up your previous TR and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! I love how you and your daughter have so much fun together in WDW! I have two daughters who I used to travel to WDW with every year but as they've gotten older, we usually only do it as a family every other year. My DH and I frequent WDW about 4 to 5 times a year being AP holders and DVC members though. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Coronado Springs! I always enjoy stopping into WL and AKL for visits if we don't stay there. :) How fun that you got to meet up with fellow Disney board friends. I love how we can connect through mutual interests now through the internet. Looking forward to your live updates.

That's the nice thing about the internet. In some ways, it makes our world smaller and we can make new friends through it! I'm glad you were able to meet up in real life and ride! 🤩🤩🤩
Those are the little things that make life super special!

At our get-together we forum members laughed at how ludicrous it is to meet with Internet strangers (and how we would counsel others NOT to do that) yet here we were!

Truly everyone I have met from WDWMagic (and their trip companions) have been so fun and very kind.

With so many people around in WDW, it's pretty safe to meet a stranger though.. probably one of the safest places on earth to do so... unless you do something silly like to directly to someones hotel room with no other people around. And even then.. magic bands track it all...

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Coronado Springs!
Lots of pictures and thoughts....and even a little DRAMA.....forthcoming!

Oh my! I guess if you crop it really hard, you can get the two of you centered? Maybe?
Other pics were much better! Will post one in my full report.

Ahhh... just catching up and now see this. Thanks again for answering my question and sharing this picture with me on the planning board. 😊
Glad I could help you. :cat:

Wednesday, con’t

About halfway through our meal, a party of 4 was escorted to the table above. ^ ^
I was busy eating, but Em witnessed what I am about to share. The party consisted of three twenty-somethings and a six year old child. All of them were dressed in shorts, tee shirts and flip flops. The mom of the child was wearing a Forky tee. Now there is a “dress code” sign at the check in desk on the 2nd floor, which a) the party ignored and b) is clearly not enforced.

But the story doesn’t end here.

The group sat down and opened their menus. After a brief glance, they stood up and left the restaurant! The server hadn’t even made it over to the table to introduce himself yet.

How did these people find themselves at a signature restaurant for which they were obviously unprepared? California Grill is a hard-to-get ADR....you don’t simply walk up after a day in the parks and ask to sit at a window table during peak dinner hour. Someone must have made the reservation!

My sleuthing skills come up empty-handed on this one. 🤷🏻‍♀️

....the Oak-Grilled Filet. Done to perfection, it was melt-in-your-mouth spectacular as always. We each had our own. This is a dish we DO NOT SHARE!

DH & I love CG, and have also witnessed the "dress code" violations, to the tune of sweatpants and Mickey tshirts, flipflops. They did stay for dinner though. I also totally agree, the Filet is a no sharing situation!

My best friend and I met through a forum for The West Wing. But I agree--

Cool meetup! I’ve met several peeps from that “other” board and they’ve all been fun and lovely to meet, planning to meet up with more at HHN next month.
Waiting to hear your thoughts on CSR. Personally I dislike the look of new tower. Looks very Las Vegas-ish to me and really out of place at a WDW Resort. Not a fan of Rivera look either from outside and placement.
