Florida here we come Part 2.

So after yet another another take off from Gatwick we headed of into the blue yonder once more. We settled into our seats and tried Cars 3 once more. A while later we waved goodbye to Ireland and breathed a small sigh of relief.

After the first movie we chose different films. I went for Collosal which is an interesting film with some nice twists. Donna watched The Gifted which she said was very good.

Lunch came around during the second film and we both had the spinach and ricotta canneloni veggie dish. Yes @figmentfan423 you did read that right.

The flight was going great and there was little to no turbulence. With about 2-3 hours to go the intercom came to life once more.

“This is your captain speaking. We regret to inform you that due to an onboard medical emergency we are going to have to divert the flight. As soon as we know any more details as to where we are diverting we will let you know”

“This is your co-pilot, Just to keep you informed we will be diverting to Bermuda as we have a very sick child on board”

Soooo about an hour later we found ourselves touching down in Bermuda and taxiing up to a teeny tiny airport building .

The young child was quickly taken from the plane and onto a waiting ambulance.

The captain came over the intercom to explain that they were in conference with head offices in the UK and USA to figure out what to do next. We couldn’t leave the plane at the moment as there had been a scheduled flight in just behind us and that had priority to de-plane first and the airport wasn’t large enough to hold all passengers off both flights in the arrivals without being over the fire regulations.

Whilst we were waiting in the plane the co-pilot came down and did the rounds informing everyone that as soon as something was decided we would know straight away. He also said in 27 years of flying he had never been on a flight that had been turned around and had a medical emergency.

The decision was made to disembark the passengers off the plane and fly us out the next day.

Thus followed a queue at immigration followed by a queue at the luggage belts and a queue at immigration to get into the queue for the taxi’s.

We got the last two seats in one and were whisked off to the Fairmont Southampton.

At least in Bermuda they drive on the correct side of the road.

Once at the hotel we were checked in very promptly and soon found our room.

We ordered a burger and fries from room service and that was soon delivered.

We quickly called Port Orleans to explain the situation and they said it was not a problem and would hold our room for the next day.

Once we had eaten we quickly settled down for the night as we had been on the plane for around 13 to 14 hours and been awake for over 24.

OMG...the odds of both being turned around and then having to make a landing for a passenger must be astronomical! I can think of WAY worse places to have to spend a night due to a layover...
Veggies for the win!
