Pop Century Renovations

Hi!
I'm checking into Pop Century for a week in a little less than a month. I know there are some renovations going on but I haven't heard much about it or heard anything from Disney, as I know others have. Any input on how extensive these renovations are would be great. Is there any building or area you would recommend staying away from? We have a preferred room and we can be late sleepers. Thanks!

Thanks for posting! We are staying there in 11 days!!! There was a thread about this awhile back but I have not heard anything in a while. I'm curious about what is going on there as well. I did get an email a couple of days ago saying the Hippy Dippy pool would be closed.

What? Not the Hippy Dippy Pool! We will be there in 12 days and I saw that the computer pool would be closed, but haven't seen anything else regarding others areas of the resort as of yet...

I used touring plans.com to see the resort and rooms available to help determine my room request. Since you can enter your arrival date, I would assume this site takes into consideration areas that would be under renovation.

I thought it was supposed to be the computer pool too but I received an email on the 10th that said the Hippy Dippy pool would be closed and the computer and bowling pool would be open.

Good Point! I did this too. I imagine they would tell you about any construction near your room.

Im checked into pop century right now, in an 80s building right by the computer pool. despite the visible construction, there's really not any noise. so late sleeping shouldn't be a problem I think. I don't see any other areas under renovation right now

Just got back about 2 weeks ago from a week's stay at Pop. We stayed in the 50's on the lake side and saw/heard no evidence of any work, however we never wandered beyond the main building to the 80's/90's end of the resort. We hung out at the bowling pin pool as we're not into all the commotion at the H-D pool in the afternoon. All in all a great stay.

I just switched my upcoming trip to Cabana Bay at Universal.. Pop used to be my fav resort but i don't even wanna come close to risking the chance to get one of these new college dorm remodels with hardwood floors. Cabana Bay has the heart and soul of what made Pop great in its prime and takes it to the next level.. sad that I have to go to Universal to get my Disney fix but what can you do.

BTW anyone figure out why Cabana Bay can still handle having tickets at their arcade with a prize counter etc while Disney said they couldn't do it for legal reasons years ago?

I don't think Disney said that was the reason, it was posters on here etc seeing the new FL law to limit Internet Cafes being Casinos and then correlated that with Disney closing the arcade counters. It could also just be Disney not wanting to spend on the staff.
