Trip Report Girls Just Want to Have Fun - An October Trip Report

Well it certainly has been awhile since I’ve posted a trip report! This trip report is for an October trip...October of 2015 that is. Yes. It has taken me a little over a year to write this thing but I’ve finally done it. :D And I swear I have a really good reason why it’s taken me so long…

I HAD A BABY! :D:D:D

11E15286-F43D-4F69-A7BE-39AEA49F20D6.jpg

His name is Oliver and he was born in June. :) I actually found out two days before this trip that I was pregnant so it’s been a crazy year filled with lots of exciting changes.

I haven’t been able to take a trip to WDW since I found out I was pregnant so this was kind of my last hurrah if you will. Of course we already have Oliver’s first WDW trip planned for November 2017 and my husband and I are going on the Disney Wonder in January so we won’t be without Disney for much longer. :)

This trip was actually a girls weekend for the agents of Kingdom Konsultant Travel. I was super excited for this trip because it’s always fun when we get together but it was also during the Food and Wine Festival! Sadly, since I was pregnant, I couldn’t partake in all of the Food and Wine festivities but I still had a great time. Lots of food, just no wine.

The Details

When: October 1-4, 2015

Who: Ashley (That’s me!), Pam (@Kingdom Konsultant), Carissa (@sissa216), Jennifer (@PixieDustMamma), Stacy (@mammaminnie), Marla (@SaltyD), Pam (@Gaston's gal), Tara (@TinkerTara), Marie (@wannabeBelle), Betsy (@cruisegirl973), Aubrey (@DisneyAubs), Melissa (@MyFavoriteFigment), Kristy (@dreamingofdisney), Heather (@hwooda), Mary Ann (@MaryMcMagic), Amy (@NHMouse), Dani, Anna, Stacy and Scott, our lone fella :D (@Mr KK)

Where: Disney’s BoardWalk

Now… on with the show!

October 1st - Let’s get this party started! :D

I had a 7am flight on Southwest and arrived in Orlando at 8:40am.

I made my way to Disney’s Magical Express and was able to board a bus very quickly. And who should I see board the bus after I got on? Kristy!

Anna also joined us on the DME and we then made our way to the BoardWalk. It was so fun to be able to chat with friends on our way to the resort.

We checked in at the resort and unfortunately my room wasn’t ready yet. Luckily, Anna’s room was ready so I was able to drop off my bags in her room. I can’t remember who else joined us at that point but eventually I know Amy and Carissa showed up. (See, that’s what happens when you have a kid and wait a year to write your trip report! :D )

Anna’s room had a great view of Crescent Lake so I took some pictures while we waited for others to arrive. Then we stopped by the concierge lounge since we were staying Club Level this trip. Woo woo! :D

When we left the show, the American Music Machine was performing and the ladies wanted to watch so Carissa and I went to see them again. :D The show was really good so I didn’t even mind that we had just seen them hours earlier.

New vantage point

We stopped in France to cool off and so some of the ladies could get a snack. Carissa and I picked up these awesome Poly bungalow fans from the DVC booth.

We all decided to head back to the BoardWalk to get ready for dinner but we stopped along the way for some pictures.

We got back to our room and I realized that I hadn’t taken any pictures of the room yet. Yikes! It’s so hard to take pictures of a clean room with 4 ladies sharing it but now was my chance because Mousekeeping had already stopped by. :)

It was time for dinner at The BOATHOUSE at Disney Springs. Remember, this was shortly after the new restaurants opened at Disney Springs so we were all very excited to check it out for the first time.

We were all splitting up and taking cabs and cars to Disney Springs. I, as usual, took pictures of carpets on our way to the car.

I’m a big dork and was excited to see the new (at the time) parking garage and walk along all of the new Disney Springs areas. I had originally thought we would hang out at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar for some drinks before dinner but of course me being pregnant put an end to that idea. I still need to go here when I’m not pregnant because the drinks sound wonderful!

I got the wedge salad and the lobster bisque and both were very tasty. I can’t remember what everyone else had but everyone seemed to enjoy their meals.

What we were really excited about was the Baked Alaska dessert. This thing was HUGE! It was so comical because when they brought out the dessert, all of us took out our phones and cameras to take a picture. Then it was funny because we were taking pictures of everyone taking a picture of the thing! It was very meta.

Overall, I really enjoyed dinner at The BOATHOUSE. I don’t think it’s on my Must-Eat list but it was a good meal. There are lots of other new restaurants at Disney Springs that I want to try before I head back to this one.

After dinner it was time for some shopping. We all split up but kept running into each other at various stores.

It started raining so we decided to head back to the resort. It was early enough that we could still make it to the Club Lounge for a late night snack before it closed.

IMG_1964.jpg

We got back to our room a little after 10pm which is pretty early for a Disney night. Even though we got back to the room early, we ended up staying up pretty late talking. It was a full on sleepover moment of not going to bed even though you were tired because you were having too much fun talking. Eventually Stacy realized we really needed to go to bed because we had an early morning. What a good Mom! :D

October 3rd - Dapper Day Dapperness and Late Night Magic Kingdom Fun

This morning was an early one because we had some business to attend to. The Girls Weekend couldn’t be all fun and games. :) We had a team meeting in the morning and then Carissa, Dani and I planned on enjoying the Dapper Day festivities over at Hollywood Studios.

IMG_1969.jpg

Cloudy morning

After taking care of business, Carissa and I made our way back to the BoardWalk to change into our Dapper outfits. We took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom (because who doesn’t love a ride on the monorail?!) and then caught a bus to the BoardWalk. We saw a bus to the Yacht and Beach Club was already waiting when we arrived so we opted to take that bus and then walk over to the BoardWalk.

I was really excited to be at WDW for Dapper Day. If you aren’t familiar, Dapper Day is an unofficial event at Disney Parks where guests put on their most dapper attire and meet up with other dapper guests. :D It’s really fun! It’s basically a day to show up to the parks wearing your most fashionable attire. Lots of people dress up inspired by Disney characters and come in vintage clothing but it’s not a requirement.

AF0BFD70-32A2-4FF9-BB98-F191BC943254.jpg

We arrived at Hollywood Studios and I was excited to see so many people dressed up! At first I was worried that we may be some of the only people dressed up but my fears were quickly put to rest. As soon as we walked up, we saw a TON of people were in dapper outfits.

I decided to Disney Bound as Minnie for my Dapper Day outfit. I already had the yellow shoes from my Minnie Halloween costume. I found a red dress for around $10 at TJMaxx, bought $5 white gloves from the Halloween store, covered a purse I already had with black felt and polka dots, used a paint pen to add polka dots to a $4 pair of sunglasses from Kohls and bought the pearls at Kohls using Kohls cash. I already had the black sweater so I created the whole outfit for under $25. Not too bad!

Since I waited so long to write this thing, I can’t remember all of the specifics of what we did today. From my investigative skills and looking at my pictures, it would appear that we went over to Toy Story Midway Mania, the Streets of America and Muppet Vision 3D.

I really like the Frozen Sing-along. I think the Royal Storytellers are so funny! The guy cracks me up every time. And I also love being able to belt out Let It Go every chance I get. Hahaha

We wandered around Echo Lake and some of the gift shop areas after the show. The Dapper Day group was scheduled to meet in front of Grauman’s theater around 5 something and we had time to kill.

IMG_2270.jpg

IMG_2273.jpg

I don’t know if I’ve ever ventured into the Indy gift shop before. Interesting.

IMG_2274.jpg

We saw that the crowds were really gathering in front of the theater so we went to check it out. There were a TON of people there dressed up for Dapper Day! They were putting everyone into position to take a HUGE group photo. At first Carissa and I just hung back watching but then we joined the crowd for the picture.

While we were taking the group picture, the group broke out into song and started singing the Mickey Mouse Club March. It was so cool. I got tears in my eyes at just how awesome it was. It was definitely a neat experience to be a part of.

After the picture, a lot of people hung around the area that formerly held the sorcerer’s hat and checked out each other’s outfits. There were so many cute outfits everywhere! I couldn’t stop snapping pictures.

We contemplated riding The Great Movie Ride but the line looked kind of long with all of the Dapper Day people so we decided to make our way to the exit. It was at this point that I saw a group of people dressed in dapper outfits inspired by the characters from Inside Out. I proceeded to exclaim “Oh, I love Sadness!” :hilarious::D Hahaha It was just so funny because I meant the character and not the actual emotion but it sounded odd if you didn’t realize that I was talking about someone’s outfit. We got a good laugh out of it. :D I still say “I love sadness” anytime I see merchandise with the character and get a laugh.

We took a very leisurely stroll to the exit, with lots of stops along the way for photos. We detoured quite a few times to check out more Dapper Day outfits.

We got back to the resort and relaxed for a little bit. A lot of the other ladies were at the Magic Kingdom so we made our way there to meet up with them.

IMG_2375.jpg

The kids were having a great time at the BoardWalk just playing in the grass :)

IMG_2380.jpg

Betsy, Marie and Stacy were at Pecos Bill so we made our way over there to join them. I ordered the burrito which was HUGE! It was way too much food for one person.

IMG_2383.jpg

After dinner, we went to the hub to grab a spot for Celebrate the Magic where we met up with a bunch of the other ladies. Celebrate the Magic was one of my favorites and I’m really bummed that it’s leaving soon and I won’t get to see it again. I know the new show will probably be just as good, if not better, but I’m still bummed. I just loved the music that went along with the show.

At this point, most of the group wanted to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I was worried to ride since I was pregnant but I couldn’t say why. Stacy couldn’t ride since everyone knew she was pregnant, and Jennifer said she would join her. I said that I didn’t really like Seven Dwarfs and Carissa chimed in that she also kind of wanted to skip it. Thank you Carissa! So we opted to join Stacy and Jennifer on it’s a small world.

When we left it's a small world, we met up with some of the other ladies again. Betsy, Marie and Stacy were heading back to the resort but the remaining ladies decided to go check out Under the Sea.

IMG_2448.jpg

We decided to start heading out and were walking by the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train when it rushed by and several of the ladies screamed in fear. It was pretty funny at close to 1am to be casually walking and then get scared to death as a roller coaster was whooshing by. :D It was very late and we were all getting a little slap happy at this point.

We walked through some gift shops and then posed for a picture by the clock.

Carissa, Me, Pam, Stacy, Amy, Jennifer and Mary Ann all made it to 1:15am! Night Owls! :D

So cool that you got to attend Dapper Day! Your outfit was really cute, and I was so impressed to find out you polka-dotted the sunglasses yourself!!

It was really a neat event to attend! I recommend attending one if you can. Thanks! I was happy with the way my outfit turned out. :) I couldn't find any polka dot sunglasses that were cheap so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try to do it myself!

October 4th - Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Home. Oh my! :(

Well today was the day. My last day in WDW. :bawling: I was super sad, especially since I didn’t have another trip planned. I knew with Oliver due in June that we probably wouldn’t get back to WDW in 2016 and I find it’s always harder to leave when I don’t know when I’m going back. I had a cruise planned for January 2017 but at the time, that seemed so far away (And now it's only 80 days away!)

Carissa and I woke up early and decided to check out Animal Kingdom since we hadn’t been there yet this trip.

It was about time for us to leave but we stopped in a gift shop on the way out to check out the merchandise. I found an awesome Disney Parks poster art calendar and just had to buy it.

We made our exit and caught a bus back to the BoardWalk before heading over to Epcot to meet the other ladies. While at the BW, we stopped by our room to drop off our merch and then the concierge lounge for a quick snack.

IMG_2979.jpg

The ladies were over in Germany so we made our way to World Showcase. We stopped in Mexico to get some drinks. I ordered a virgin Pina Colada and Carissa got the Avocado Margarita, upon my recommendation. She had never had one before and they are my favorite! If I couldn’t have one, I wanted her to enjoy it and luckily, she did! They put my virgin drink in a different cup than Carissa’s and we realized that the cup might give away the fact that I wasn't actually drinking. Carissa went up to the Margarita cart and told them that her cup had a crack in it and asked for another cup. :D Very sneaky. I transferred my drink into the normal cup to keep up the charade.

We found the ladies in Germany enjoying some cocktails. We hung out with them for awhile before we all made our way to Italy. The majority of the group had lunch reservations at Via Napoli. Sadly, I couldn’t join them because I had a flight to catch. :( I walked with them to Italy and sat with them until their table was ready.

I said my goodbyes to everyone and then walked back to the BoardWalk to grab my stuff and catch the Magical Express back to the airport.

And that was it! Just like that my fun girls weekend trip was over. A lot of the other ladies were staying until Monday and I was super bummed to see all of their fun pictures while I was heading home.

One thing I wish I had done during this trip was take more pictures of our group! I realized when I got home that I hardly had any pictures of us. I took some, but just not enough. I take so many pictures of my surroundings but I always seem to forget to take pictures of people. I’ve made a mental note to do better.

It was a great trip but it was bitter sweet. I didn’t know when I would be able to make it back to WDW and when I would get to see all of these ladies again. I knew that my trips would never be the same but that was okay.

I can’t wait to bring Oliver for his first trip to WDW! We already have his first trip booked for November 2017 and I’m so excited for all of the new firsts we get to experience with him. He will be a year and a half by then which I think is a pretty good age for a first trip.

Thanks for reading! I promise it won’t take me as long to write my trip report for my January cruise.

We arrived at Hollywood Studios and I was excited to see so many people dressed up! At first I was worried that we may be some of the only people dressed up but my fears were quickly put to rest. As soon as we walked up, we saw a TON of people were in dapper outfits.

Hollywood Studios is the PERFECT location for a Dapper Day celebration! We were in photoshoot heaven with so many great props and spots for pictures.

The MagicBand and Fitbit kind of kill the whole look.

My bags are packed and I’m ready to go!

Great report! Looks like you had a great time, and congrats on your new addition! He's adorable :cat:

I LOVE The Boardwalk, so it was fun seeing your pictures from there.

It was a really great time! Thanks @sheriffwoody :D He is such a good baby. We have really lucked out!

The BoardWalk is probably my favorite of the Epcot resorts. I got engaged there so it has a special place in my heart.

I'm so glad you decided to ride the safari, the photos are amazing!!

Thanks @Tiggerish! I'm glad I rode it too.

Thanks for reading @fractal! :D
