Mary Poppins Sequel in the works

Ya know what would be cool? Julie Andrews as 'the bird lady' and Richard VanDike as Bert...just older. How would Julie play Poppins if Emily Blunt is ....ah...whatever. Still pretty excited about this.

They could start the movie as an older Mary and Bert, then have Mary and Bert sing one song (if they're up to it) and then have Mary crack a joke, "say that was fun" and poof she's younger. Then Emily Blunt take over and it's their way of doing a passing of the torch. Something to that effect.

maybe they'll start off as their original characters & flashback to their younger selves

That's another spin... I believe this is what they'll do with Indiana Jones as well. I think they will have IJ5 feature a long flashback that introduces the newly cast younger Indy then after IJ5 they make new films set in the past with that actor.

Julie can't sing any more, at least not like she used too.

Di..ck Van Dy..ke Joins Cast Of Mary Poppins Returns

The Hollywood Reporter recently ran a piece on Dick Van and revealed that the actor will be a part of Mary Poppins Returns. It’s unknown how big of a role he will have or if he will even reprise his character of Burt, but he’s definitely in.

He said: “This one supposedly takes place 20 years later and the kids are all grown up. It’s a great cast — Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and that guy [Lin-Manuel Miranda] from Hamilton.”

The film will be directed by Rob Marshall, who will produce with John DeLuca and Marc Platt. It will be written by David Magee based on The Mary Poppins Stories by P.L. Travers. Marc Shaiman will write the score and will co-write the songs with Scott Wittman. It also stars Emily Blunt, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer and Colin Firth.

Here’s a synopsis: Drawing from the wealth of material in P.L. Travers’ seven additional novels, the sequel’s story will take place in Depression-era London (when the books were originally written) and follows a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, who, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

The film arrives on December 25, 2018.

No but she had a bad vocal chord surgery and doesn't sing anymore.

Actually, Julie CAN sing, but she doesn't have the range she once had, so no more high notes. :(

Also, here's an article about The Guy Who Played Bert that reveals the character he'll play in the new Poppins film: http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/...-in-upcoming-sequel-to-mary-poppins/95657420/

Still wish Meryl "Slandermouth" Streep wasn't in this... :p

Same here. Some time last year or two while accepting an award, she for no reason, dissed Walt Disney. Her reason... because Walt didn't give women the same benefits as men (it's sad but that's the way it was back then and in some cases still is). The man has been dead for 50 years! Yet, that doesn't stop her from signing on to make Disney movies. She's a nutcase and a hypocrite.

She sure is. And you'll be happy to know that Walt fully intended to train women as animators - here's a link that will fill you in: http://articles.latimes.com/2013/no...alt-disney-speech-on-women-animators-20131129. Apparently things changed after the war - society changed - and Walt's plan never really came to fruition. But he was still remarkably progressive (in every GOOD sense of that word) for a man of his time. Meryl just never bothered to do any real research on him before spewing her nonsense; she just parroted the same tired old discredited drivel that's been told about him for years. She got reamed for it by the public and people who knew and worked with Walt, but she of course didn't listen. Too special to admit she's wrong, I suppose.
