The actor will star in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016. The film, directed by Scott Derrickson with Jon Spaihts writing the screenplay, will follow the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity,” said Producer Kevin Feige. “In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”

Dr Strange is looking like it might be rather intense. GOTG hit the more adult humor/theme. I wonder if it gets too demonic it will risk a R rating.

Reports this summer said that Marvel had offered her a lead role starring opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, and at the Toronto Film Festival she told The Wrap that she had accepted. It is unknown which role McAdams will play at this time, but she and Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) will be joined by Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo, Doctor Strange’s longtime nemesis).

I'd guess he's the government agent tasked with trying to make sense of this "magic" business. At least when the Asgardians showed up, they were upfront with, "No, see we were worshiped as gods with magical powers, but actually we're an alien race with science far beyond your mortal comprehension."
