We are going to the MVMCP on 12th Nov but just wondering when does Disney put up the Christmas/Holiday decorations in the resorts? Keeping fingers crossed some will be up when we are there until 16th Nov.

Christmas time is our favorite time of year to go down, and we make it a point during our trip to go around to the resorts and see all the amazing work they put into decorating for the holiday.

Last year when we went, we attended MNSSHP on Nov. 1st (the last one) and we're leaving the very next morning. As we were waiting for the Magical Express bus, Christmas music was already being pumped thru the resort!

I'm not sure when the resorts begin decorating, but MK starts the very next day after the last MNSSHP and is fully decorated a week later, just in time for the first MVMCP of the season (which we'll miss by one day this year!)!

Enjoy your holiday!

Resorts are a gradual process throughout November. Since MVMCP has a set start date, MK needs to be switched over very quickly after the last MNSSHP. DHS and AK will also switch over fairly quickly since they start the Osborne Lights and the Jingle Jungle Parade fairly early in November. Epcot can take a bit longer since they don't start any seasonal entertainment until the day after Thanksgiving. Most of the resorts can be done in a single night (except for the edible decorations, those are usually take a bit to assemble). So those will totally depend on luck. Your resort may be decorated before you arrive, it may change over magically one night while you are there, or it may not be done til after you leave.

They start putting Christmas stuff out and playing Christmas music in the hotels at the beginning of November.

Disney begins celebrating Halloween in September and begins Christmas as soon as Halloween is over. They continue Christmas into January. 4+ months of celebrations for two holidays...and poor Thanksgiving is completely ignored. :(

They've already begun getting the castle and DHS set up for Christmas.

I've heard the resorts greatly vary. I remember following this religiously back in 2010...while we were going in December and knew we'd see everything...the decorations going up was my big sign that our trip was right around the corner. I remember several posts saying that the hotels with the big trees (i.e. Wilderness Lodge, GF, AKL) had their overnight transformation to Christmas mode around November 17th.

We stayed at AKL last year from 11/15 to 11/18. The Christmas decorations were already up at all of the parks. The tree in the AKL went up literally over night while we were there. It was magical! We went to bed late one night and then early the next morning, POOF, it was there! Since Thanksgiving is early this year the resorts should get dolled up during your stay. Make a point to got to HS to see the Osbourne Family lights. They are amazing!
