It’s been revealed that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is finally happening, and the sequel is now in the works at Disney.

According to sources for Deadline, screenwriter for the original film, Aline Brosh Mckenna (27 Dresses, We Bought a Zoo), has been enlisted to write a sequel to the smash-hit 2006 movie starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.

The first film was based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger. It saw journalism graduate Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) landing a job as a junior assistant to the editor-in-chief of a high-fashion magazine. Her new boss, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), is basically the boss from hell, but Andy manages to battle through a torrid start on the job and soon finds herself becoming more and more like her seemingly cold-blooded mentor.

Meryl Streep earned an Oscar nod for her role, while the movie proved to be a breakthrough for Emily Blunt.

The sequel will reportedly see Miranda Priestly at the end of her career as she contends with the decline of traditional magazines.

Meryl Streep is still alive? Are we sure she isn't doing a Death Becomes Her?

This seems like a preview from another era.

If they really wanted to show the workplace in 2025, they'd need to show everyone sitting at home with no hair and makeup wearing their baggy pajamas and comfy socks, slumped in front of a Zoom call with a coffee mug full of cheap Chardonnay. 🤣

But honestly, are they to expect us to believe that offices with chic dress codes (heels, ladies, heels!) and a cut-throat boss who operates outside the realm of an HR department and compulsory JDEIA struggle sessions goals still exist in 2025?

I loved the original movie for the Miranda Priestly character as much as the next gay, but come on! It's not 2006 anymore.

You do know the Miranda character is based off a real person right? A person who is still in the fashion world today, and feared just as much as Miranda is in the movie if not more.

And that while I know you like to joke a lot (and have much disdain) about the work from home paradigm shift that has happened in many industries.... You'll be happy to learn that fashion magazines like Vogue (which Runway in the movie is based on) still have a 4 day in the office work week. So yeah we are expected to believe it even in 2025.

That's fabulous news! Thank you for making my Friday afternoon just a bit brighter.

I hear the elevator... Heels, ladies! Heels! Now! :devilish:
