If the inventory systems were capable of doing this it would be an improvement. Its been a nightmare attempting to track down anything when not in person and merchandise service tosses thier collective hands up when you ask.

Wow, we were just talking about how cool a feature like this would be! Seems like Disney is really trying to up their tech game, and it's long overdue.

Wish this existed a long time ago...better late than never. I NEVER cared for parksmerch (from childhood I always felt the complimentary Guide Books from Kodak were already the perfect souvenir), but at least one in the family loved shopping at WDW...we spent soooo much time in the past trying to track the whereabouts of various items in various stores...so hopefully this will at least "free up" time for those who go to WDW now? 🤷‍♂️

I miss that app. When they closed it I like wise hoped they would combine it into MDE. It was also fun to search for merch that wasn't in the Shop Disney store.

I wonder if we'll see the return of other pre pandemic features, like send to resort, or hold at front return.

If you ask for a merch search specifically for talking about an item, they'll generally be more accurate than if you just asked them randomly about a specific item. (That's how they know they are being asked to use the CM version of this program that covers all of properly.) Your mileage may vary but it usually works for me.

I've even supplied SKUs and pictures to no avail.

This is a great feature! Which begs the question now.. I wonder if thanks to this, maybe we’ll get merchandise put in proper shops that fit more thematically and we start seeing unique & attraction/land specific merch in the shops again. 👍🏻

This is years old, I remember using this feature back in 2015 to find my mother a Piglet plush as couldn't find one anywhere, not even in the Pooh ride gift shop, the app listed only one store on property had them and it was the store under Spaceship Earth of all places, and so I went there and they did indeed have it.

Wonder why they got rid of it, proved very helpful.

In Ye Olden Days, I would call the special hotline phone number to the WDW Merchandising Department.
A nice CM would then look up the item I was looking for and then happily tell me which shop stocked it on Property.
As of a few years ago, one could still do this.

I have not even mentioned how much money I spent in the 1980s buying product direct from WDW through ye olden WDW Merchandise Catalog.
Now those were the days…and what merch!
Still have all of it.

Ahhh, the days before automation and the internet.
And even before The Disney Store existed…

They've been capable of doing this for well over a decade. All Disney CM's (literally across all divisions - even ESPN) have had access to park inventory for both WDW and DL.

For anybody talking to a CM who doesn't know what to do - kindly ask them to check the Merchandise Product Locator ... I think the internal weblink for those within the disney network is mpl.disney.com but it's been awhile since I've used it.

Even when you do find a CM that can look, the inventory numbers are wrong since it was updated only after park close. Maybe Maximo has been updated and SIMBA rewritten to handle higher usage numbers by swapping out the DB2 for something from at least the last decade.

Those old merch catalogs compared with what’s offered today… 😭

Kind of ironic as I had nibbles from Disney today for Lead Solutions Architect or Principle Software Architect. I guess their cost cutting experiment of offshoring their back of house operations isn't panning out.
