This is definitely a little creepy - but a big part of me is that creepy is part of the allure of AAs
The voice is definitely off, but I also think that the voice ties into the overall hurdle that this show was never gonna get over and that’s competing with people’s memory.Maybe I'm nit picking a bit, but this is Walt after all. I'd say the new Trump is a better overall likeness (and we can't escape seeing him).
Am I crazy to think the voice sounding more familar should have been a slam dunk?
Oh, and replacing the Great Americans hallway with what looks like 90s Disney color puke and getting rid of the Capitol model? Also gross.
why? eisner has as much to do with walt disney as iger does (nothing at all). just because eisner is the fan-favorite of the two doesn't mean he'd be any more fittingShould had brought back Eisner to narrate.
Here is an official video from Disney:
Imagineering/ Disney has had a good number of misses the last few years. I was hoping, considering what was at stake, that this would be a moment to regain our confidence. So far it’s not looking great. Hopefully the show is good.
They’re all over the place. Lots of good projects and tasteful updates alongside embarrassing fumbles when the stakes are high (Tiana, Walt’s face). I wonder what’s really going on. Seems like quality control is out the window.
All in all, this all points to one of the two major reasons I thought this show was a bad idea from day one. I won’t get into the other one as I know it would not be a popular conversation, but this one definitely I think was always the biggest thing standing in their way.
Right.
Now I’m realizing I said “hopefully the show is good.” How can it be good if doesn’t look or sound like him? lol
Maybe there's a possibility that he'll look much better in person when you can see him from every angle. I'll hold my final judgement until I see it in person, but not looking very promising right now.
Eisner is the perhaps the most glazed individual in the company’s history. It really floors me how one can complain about Iger’s faults (and many of them are valid complaints!) but not recognize Eisner had a lot of the same ones.why? eisner has as much to do with walt disney as iger does (nothing at all). just because eisner is the fan-favorite of the two doesn't mean he'd be any more fitting
I will happily PM you but I’m gonna be smart for once and not get yelled at todayOkay well now I’m curious.
exactly! fully agree, both of them have their negatives but they do have their positives, and i would like neither of them to have any creative role in a show about walt disneyEisner is the perhaps the most glazed individual in the company’s history. It really floors me how one can complain about Iger’s faults (and many of them are valid complaints!) but not recognize Eisner had a lot of the same ones.
Maybe it’s just me but just because Eisner was a more creative person doesn’t mean all of his poor choices and terrible management as he went along suddenly disappears. A lot of what folks dislike about the company today comes right from him.
I agree - and it appears he went to a tailor in 2025, looking at the way the suit is fitted - not how it was worn in his time. I know criticizing is easy, but these are little things we've come to expect from ImagineeringI feel like this is a bit of an elvis problem.. in that you gotta decide which 'version' of the individual you want to portray.. and which version you pick isn't always the same that people have in their mind.
I mean, the 1920s thin dapper Walt.. the fatherly Walt of the 40s and 50s.. or the grandfather Walt of his final years.
But man, I saw this and was like.. eww. They went some weird Robert De Niro version of Walt.
It's like his head is oversized... and his chest is too pronounced. If you're aiming for the 'final' version of Walt, which is what I think their style aludes to.. the build and proportions just seem wrong. Walt was more lanky.. and in his final years much more thinner on top with a slight belly.. broad and flat.. not chest forward.

Not whatever this is..

And unlike HoP which needs to convey features over a VERY large theatre.. the Lincoln theatre is pretty dang small.
Just say No to Walt De Niro...
