According to a poster on Reddit, a child fell overboard on the Dream today, and their dad jumped in after them. DCL rescue team went into action and everyone is reportedly doing OK.

More details from OP:
Not docked!!! Halfway between Bahamas and Ft Lauderdale! Fully moving! Heard in our rooms “Mr. Mob portside”. Ran to the 11th deck to see them throwing life preservers. 10ish minutes later a lifeboat drops and they find the people within 3-5 minutes of that. The man treaded water for at least 20 minutes.

I found a (nearly complete) video of the rescue from the time they lowered the rescue craft into the water:

When is the money grabbing lawsuit coming?
From what is being reported by guests on board via social media (so, huge grain of salt) the dad propped her on the railing of deck 4 for a photo and she fell backwards. If this is the case, I don’t see how a lawsuit would go in their favor. However, we don’t know the facts of the incident officially yet so I guess we shall see

Disney should sue the dad if that’s true. There should also be criminal charges of child neglect.

There are cameras and people everywhere. The facts will come out in time.

I totally agree but I was just joking about the lawsuit. It seems every event comes with a lawsuit nowadays.

The more likely outcome is everyone agrees it was a stupid thing to do and moves on. A lawsuit would look bad for Disney, even if they are in the right and would win.
Disney is likely willing to let the dad look like a hero. Stories are saying he was taking the kid’s picture “against” the railing, which would make it impossible for her to fall in unless the plexiglass fell out.

Now seeing reports from other site:

“The Broward Sheriff’s Office — which is investigating the incident where a 5-year-old girl fell from Disney Cruise Line ship the Disney Dream — says she was not sitting on the ship’s railing.

The crew member who said that’s her station and she was on the fourth floor, she did say that she was climbing up and the parents were playing shuffleboard and the dad jumped in after her,” Shannon explained.”

Thankfully not the case (I did encourage a huge grain of salt with the claims)

This is deck 4 of the dream (starboard side, not port).

My 8year olds eyes were level with the top rail. 4year old’s head was well under the top rail. I’m impressed that the 5year old was able to climb the wall. There’s not much there for foot holds. There are chairs on the deck, but I’d imagine an adult would have to move it to be close to the rail.

I’m very glad kiddo and dad are alright, though it might be awhile before they choose to cruise again. Maybe get that kiddo into rock climbing. She might be pretty good at it.
