Do you have any Disney opinions that you feel differ to many on here?

Agree on the Dole Whips. I’ll even go further and say I don’t think any park snacks are great, although to be fair heat tends to completely kill my appetite so maybe that’s the problem.

My most controversial opinion - I like Iger and his sweaters and his anodyne friendly dad vibes. I like his probable protege Josh too.

I question whether non-face characters should be allowed to perform outdoors. It seems vaguely akin to some sort of medieval torture to lock someone in a cocoon of fake fur and send them out in the Florida sun.

I don’t care about customer service so long as it’s efficient and proficient. I have intense social anxiety and will happily take minimal socializing over kind words and small talk (although I appreciate the positive intent, of course.) I don’t actually need or want 1970s level customer service, so long as everything works like it should.

I went to 1980s / 90s Epcot and I like the current version better (with the exception of World Showcase, which is amazing and probably not something that would get built today.)

I wish Disney would allow wagons again (ducks to avoid barrage of tomatoes). Honestly, not allowing wagons has just upped stroller usage for older and older kids so much that I doubt it helps with congestion.

I’ll see myself out now.

I feel the WDW parks are no longer worth going to and anyone who wants to see when the parks were really great can do so in their living room and save money by watching a Martin Smith Tribute video. Is that controversial?
No but it’s sad. Are you still following Disney because you’re hopeful the parks will improve?

Tiana's Bayou Adventure is a great B-tier attraction in the same way Splash Mountain was. Both good, solid supporting rides that are/were not close to the best ride in the park and neither worth the amount of attention and discussion they've both warranted. They're of pretty comparable quality to each other.
I’m 50% with you on this

I actually enjoyed it a lot…

…but splash mountain was really the height of “imagineering” in my opinion and they never really have done better…all in

But opinions vary

If Disney doesn't plan to ever do something inline with the original spirit of Epcot again, they should stop referencing old Epcot things that don't exist anymore. Don't sell anything. Don't play the music. Just move on.

I actually enjoy the song "It's a Small World After All" and think it suits the ride perfectly.

I am far more sick of jokes about the song being bad than I am of the actual song.

I could care less about parades. Then again, I’m no longer four years old.
Parades are boring.

I cannot manage to work up any enthusiasm for this new one. I'm just not excited for another Disney medley of overused songs featuring a bunch of characters I can get waved at other places waving at me.

And Wish should not be there and its presence ticks me off.

My opinion is that there are people who visit so often that they become bored and jaded by nearly everything there. Maybe take a long break.

I also believe Disney is primarily for kids. This is especially true for animated films. That would probably be a controversial opinion for people on Disney forums.

That’s not to say kids have to remember everything. Parents enjoy seeing their excitement and making memories with them.

I can’t understand what people like so much about Wilderness Lodge. The lobby feels like a plain, cavernous box compared to the beautiful and vaulted-like Animal Kingdom Lodge and Grand Californian lobbies. The placement of Whispering Canyon makes the lobby feel even less elegant (and too loud). The main pool’s placement makes the central courtyard feel very un-wilderness-y (taking away from the beauty of the geyser and waterfall/stream on each side of it). The outside of the building also seems too oversized / boxy. There aren’t enough lush grounds (even before the DVC additions) to feel wilderness-y, so instead it actually feels more hotel-y than many other Disney resorts (e.g., Polynesian, Port Orleans…). Etc.

Does anyone else have some of these reactions, and feel that Wilderness Lodge is far from being WDW’s most beautiful and immersive resort like so many people say?

I think WL is one of the most well done and immersive themed hotels on property. I personally think AKL is highly overrated.

I'm gonna have to agree. I'm glad we're getting a new nighttime parade, but it's featuring a bunch of IPs that I either do not care for (Frozen) or am merely a casual fan of (Peter Pan, Coco). I just can't work up the enthusiasm for it.

I’d be interested to hear more about what you like about WL, especially compared to AKL. I’m planning to check out the WL grounds again when I’m at WDW next month (I stayed there years ago, but have visited it several times since, in part because I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing!).

You need to watch the speech from 7/17/1955

But hey…we all have our own opinions.

I could present the other side of the argument that Those that whisk through every so often do so to trick their unconscious into being “wowed” more than experience should dictate. The ole “absence makes the heart grow fonder”

The side effect of that is maybe they don’t actually remember what things were or were supposed to look like? Crowd size gauging is a very frequent victim of this…

That is the most frustrating part about the re-do. Quit pretending it is the same park it was in 1982 or even 1999. We know you don't care about informing and inspiring the future anymore so quit pretending you are still doing it and let those of us who actually loved the old EPCOT mourn the fact that it is gone.

Are you from the US? I do think the nostalgia for log cabin type buildings might be more of a US thing.

As for the rest…you’re shaming people for being frequent customers?

Hardening of the arteries and all 🧠
It’s my opinion that Disney as it developed through the years is primarily for kids. Walt wanted a place for families to enjoy together but I’ll bet he never foresaw the rise of the “Disney adult.”

I’m not shaming frequent customers but I think customers who whisk through every so often are being wowed by the experience because they’re seeing new things, not because their “unconscious” is being tricked.

If the experience is good, why worry about remembering “what things did” or the way they were.

I have a pretty good recall of how miserably packed the parks were and they’re better now. The only people I’ve seen talking about empty parks or restaurants are three or four posters on this site. If there are any credible published articles on truly empty WDW parks I’ve missed them.
