My understanding is it's a much more short-term thing. Think about what they could throw into a park with just a few months of planning, that doesn't involve major construction or WDI.

There are legitimate rumblings that universal might want to change Superhero Island. I don't think it's smart to do so on their part, but if they do i think it opens a door in that contract.

Those rumblings aren't remotely legitimate. IOA NEEDS a replacement for Lost Continent and could use one for Toon Lagoon, the Studios needs copious investment fast, and Universal has dramatically tightened it's belt and pulled back from investing anything at all. There are no projects announced for after EU, which is historically when you need to have new things opening in the preexisting parks to pull crowds. There is NO WAY Universal will give up a top notch IP it controls for next to nothing and get rid of one of the world's best attractions, all to create another area in which it needs to invest!

If that's too wordy - what possible benefit would Universal get from giving up Marvel?

Unless his opinion has changed a lot recently, Frank Oz has been pretty vocal with with regards to his disappointment in how Disney has handled the Muppets. I doubt he would come back for anything other than to sit on the sideline shaking his head in disbelief.

Just because we don't know details doesn't mean its not in development. We don't know much about the Bugs replacement either. Or Villains, which was just dumped on the Disney Parks Blog.

I don't need them to tell me everything 4 years out. I imagine we'll learn more at Destination D23 next year.

Villains has concept art and it's the kind of quick and easy character musical show the entertainment division can churn out quickly and often does.

Does the Muppets have a stage? Does it have a backstage? Can it handle a live show?

There is no benefit, unless that rumored purchase of WB happens. Then the DC rights eventually end up with Universal and at that point, I could see it going. But outside of that unlikely scenario, I doubt it happens.

I'm fairly sure both Ant-Man and Black Panther are off-limits in Florida.

That as well, they get around it with guardians. There are enough characters available to them that they could do it. But it would probably always feel lacking without spider-man,Ironman, etc

They can't use any characters associated with Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, or Spider-Man. Guardians got through a very narrow loophole because the current team is made up of D-Listers and was created after the Universal contract.

Hasn't Dr Strange appeared in the park though? And isn't there already fairly substantiated Wakanda rumors?

I have no legal knowledge of it so I'm not questioning you. I thought it was more specific than just being associated though. What I understood is it had to do with what comic you originally released the character in.

Strange is definitely on the table. He has done M&Gs (including Jollywood nights) and was featured in the nightly projection show for years.

Here’s my opinion. With the space between star tours and SWGE filled, Star Tours fate has officially been solidified for some point in the future. It’s gotta go with how it’s not pulling its weight. Especially with another e ticket, it’s gonna pull even less in lighting lane.

That's why I said Ant-Man haha. Seems suited for it. New technology that lets you shrink and grow with him as you fly around. But I don't know if Ant Man is available.

I was certain Incredibles was going into RnRC, which I'm actually pleased it isn't.

Any character who is only used as a costume character will not be considered to be “being used by MCA” unless it appears as more than an incidental element in MCA’s marketing.]​

Ant-Man and Black Panther are out - both are core Avengers. I suspect that if Uni wanted to challenge Strange, which they might if Disney pushed beyond pop-up meet-and-greets, they'd have a decent case.

People have the right to their opinion. I prefer not to judge people too harshly for having a different point of view, but to me hating everything about a brand but then spending large sums of money on their products anyway is a lot more weird than just loving a brand. I know some people here will say that makes them “real” fans but again…weird prospective. Even more weird to me are people who supposedly stopped going to WDW years ago because of the product but still post continuously on Disney fan boards.

The rumors were for Wakanda without Black Panther -- which is why I never believed it would actually happen. Why build a land when you can't use the main character?

And who said anything about not going at all? There's a lot of room between visiting for several weeks a year and staying at Disney resorts and never going.
