DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

All I see is like 4 parking spots behind MV that would definitely leave and then a vast expanse of guest parking that they added last decade and are unlikely to now remove.

I could be wrong certainly, but I thought the parking south of DHS (basically outside GE and Grand Ave) was cast parking and not used for guests.

Simple solution to all of these 'don't tear down my favorite attractions' with regards to Cars/Villains/Monsters...

Combine them all, sprinkle in more, and build the 5th park.

Easy...

They need to fix the parks they have first. and by "fix" I mean "expand" as opposed to "replace things".

They’d do that to save a 3D show more than 30 years old? I think we overestimate how much they want to keep MV. I think they place it in the “it’s better than nothing” bucket. It’s not a headliner show like Festival of the Lion King.

My point was that I don't think losing parking capacity is a big hinderance to expanding into the parking lot right next to the park.

No idea if this helps or hurts MV3D, but I can't imagine parking spots is a big consideration in the decision.

It’s harder with MV3D because it’s Jim Henson, Frank oz, Richard hunt, ect. Harder to add on with the voices. Also, muppetvision is designed to have a specific flow story wise, so adding onto it would possibly truncate it a bit.

This needs a Philharmagic update rather than CBMJ. Add a segment or two to keep it fresh, while keeping all the original dialogue and jokes.

That area is cast member parking. That entire area is wide open. Granted this photo was from one day. But it gives you an idea. Just so I'm clear, I don't want the removal of Muppets any more than anybody else. If Monsters built in that area, can they build into the parking lot while keeping Muppets?

Yep valid argument. But I still feel that coming out and saying it replaces Launch Bay is such an easy thing to do, regardless of permitting and timelines.

Maybe but if it is replacing muppets why not rip the band aid off early like they did with ROA?

Jim Henson's Muppets creations vs. Disney's Muppets creations. I don’t know if the latter is remotely good enough to justify removing the former.

Well they are using all of the expansion area as lay down so all that leaves is RoA up to the train track.

I don't know. If I'm reading that permit without any knowledge that TSI/Rivers is closing right away, I'm thinking that riverfront laydown is staging while backstage (west) laydown is being developed, then moving laydown over to backstage laydown to develop riverfront laydown.

Perhaps that's overthinking it though

Edit: I guess the construction boundary including Rivers is pretty damning though. Carry on

It would completely undercut all of the hype from D23. Keep in mind we still have to find out where the DCA additions are going too.

Probably. Is there talk about just moving muppet vision the show and not creating a new one but just straight up moving it? There's plenty 3d theaters around wdw it could move into.

Sounds like Muppets needs to stay where it is and Tom Sawyer and the river do too. Send Cars to Animation Courtyard or anywhere else. You’re welcome, Disney.

Or put Monsters in Animation Courtyard. If Cars is retained in Frontierland, fill in the lower island area while keeping the upper island area and move boarding for Liberty Belle just past HM. Moth said to “look out for it” but nothing concrete. Magic eye im guessing is the best landing spot. Didn’t they have plans for that at one point? (Do NOT go hounding moth about this though).

See for me, it's less about keeping MuppetVision (though sure I'd prefer to keep it than not) as opposed to having the appropriate number of attractions and making the park better.

IMHO, I'm fine with MuppetVision going away if they were to use that theater for a Monsters show in addition to the door Coaster (thus actually increasing the number of attractions in the park).

Even better would be if they leave the Muppet area generally intact and just bulldoze Mama Mia and build all of Monstropolis on current parking. That would be an ideal though it would make it a dead end which exacerbates that problem of the park.

No one cares about any of the original spaces at DCA. It will be about as devastating as learning a Taco Bell is being replaced with a Chick Fil-A.

Okay, as I though. Honestly, my feeling there has always been to build a large CM garage on the "suitable" land on the other side of World Drive and do a walkway over the road to the backstage part of the park on the west side. That frees up both the cast parking on the south plus the parking "inside" the park (around the Animation building) to actually be used as footprints for onstage guest purposes.
