That is so awesome. I’m sorry they don’t live that long.Wow!
Some of my favorites are the little jarred plants they sell in the Land. I don't really have a photo though because at present we only have 1 and it is suddenly not doing very well. I'm not sure why. We didn't open the jar and it was in the same location as many others before it: light, but not direct sunlight.
In the past, we had a vanilla plant that did quite well for...I think over 5 years.
Growing up, we had a palm tree that lived indoors for over 30 years. Mind, I'm not sure it came from WDW. I think it was older than Epcot, but I know it came from Florida. It started as a tiny palm tree in a box. We didn't do anything special to care for it. It was a little spindly, but otherwise grew well for many years.
I recently learned the Epcot jarred plants have somewhat of a cult following. The unusual ones are usually sold out by noon.
While not WDW, we also have a crazy orchid that we bought at the now long-gone Orchid World. (World of Orchids?) It was up on 192, just off WDW property. When we first bought it, it was just over a foot tall. (A pain to get home.) For about 7years it didn't change at all, and never flowered. Then I learned that they like uneven temps, and a little bit of cold air. I put it by a window, and spring/fall I crack the window just a little bit. It needs the day/night temp and humidity difference. Anyhow it finally flowered! Not only that, but grew to over 5 feet tall, and the roots completely grew out of the original pot. Most of the roots are just out in the air in all directions, and we can't move it because it is intertwined with the metal frame/shelf it is on. We semi-jokingly think it has become carnivorous and eats any insects/spiders that happen to come indoors. We have named it Audrey. We don't talk to any other plants, but always say something nice to this orchid. It blooms regularly and has white+ purple blooms. It is about 15 years old.
Last, we've bought a fair number of plumerias from Epcot/WDW. They usually die after a few years, but one has lived for about 15 years. We have never been able to get it to bloom though. Maybe this will be the year!
Love itThis is a bloom from the crazy orchid, though it only shows the blooms and the top of the window.
thanks! That is so awesome. I’m sorry they don’t live that long.
Not Disney world but land. I love the bulbs they sold from the main street electrical parade
1) money went to charity
2) how many smiles did this light provide, how many little kids were awed
