Moving on with my marathon. I'm on Voyager S1 E9!

An excellent foil to the rest of the crew, sometimes friend, sometimes confidant, and often a hero, the Doctor is a crucial role to fill in any Star Trek series. Time to find out who is your favorite Doctor!

Who is your favorite, and why?

Who is your LEAST favorite, and why?

(GO BEVERLY!...But, not my favorite...just happy to see her smack Wesley)

Only 1 (or maybe 2) seasons, her comments about Data really soiled me to her. She is my LEAST favorite.

Picardo NAILED this role, and he brought a lot to a series that I felt was rather bland otherwise. As a result HE is my favorite doctor! And, while McCoy is certainly the most iconic, due to the nature of his contribution to the series, I really have to hand it to Picardo (though, it's REALLY close in my mind between him, the original McCoy and Phlox.)

This one is hard. I'll start with my least favorite, which is also Pulaski. She was the worst and made TNG hard to watch when she was on. You never mess with Data.

I guess I'll have to go with DeForest Kelley's McCoy as my favorite, but he's followed closely by Bashir and Crusher. The Doctor was the best thing about Voyager, by far. With the exception of Pulaski, I actually liked everyone on this list. Gotta go with the original Bones though.

Another piece of Trivia, had Enterprise continued for another season (it didn't, it was abruptly cut during mid-production of Season 4, which is why it comes to such a quick ending), Berman's plans for the Phlox were quite interesting. We were, supposedly, going to see him return home to Dunablua (sp) and learn a lot more about him, his family, and his spotted history (which, is never touched upon in the series prior). Shame.

Bashir really didn't come into his own until he started forming the friendship with Obrian and the later story arch about his genetic past. By the end of the series I liked him a lot, but the first season or two, when basically he didn't do much but hit on ladies (specifically Dax), he was really annoying.

I actually didn't get into DS9 until around the third season. I only watched it occasionally before that, so that's probably why I didn't have a problem with him. I do know what you mean though.

The Real McCoy.

Something so charming about DeForest Kelly. Love his version of doctor McCoy. I liked Karl Urban, but he is not DeForest Kelly. And dammit, he's a doctor, not an engineer, physicist, captain, tricorder...

Close second is the Doctor. His character was really interesting. He went from being basically a walking tricorder to being very, very human and developing friendships, romances, a sense of humor, an attitude...he was great.

Worse was Dr. Pulaski. Don't know what the writers were thinking.

I liked all of the rest of them, except Phlox because I haven't watched Enterprise other than the pilot, which I didn't even finish.

I thought Karl Urban did a great job as Bones. I thought that whole cast did a great job. I was sure I was going to hate that movie considering how much I loved the original series, but the casting was spot on.
Casting and designs, I really enjoyed.

Plot and writing? Not so much (for either of the new movies)

But, I think, with a few exceptions, Star Trek does better on Television than on the big screen.

I really liked the first one. The second was okay. Agreed on Star Trek being better on the small screen, with Wrath of Khan, First Contact and the first reboot being my exceptions. I also liked The Voyage Home and Undiscovered Country. Final Frontier, however, should never be spoken of again.

Bashir did a lot of growing up during the series. He started out fresh out of med school, quite cocky, very immature, and extremely arrogant. At least he didn't come off as creepy with hitting on Dax, just desperate. If he had come off as creepy, I think it would have turned me off. Even his best friend O'Brian hated him at first. But now he...doesn't. :joyfull: He did a lot of growing up during the course of the series. That was a high point for DS9: the nature of it being on a space station gave the writers an opportunity to show just how much the characters grew and changed over the series.

I think the O'Brian-Bashir friendship was my favorite friendship in Star Trek. It was highly unlikely, and the two balanced each other out nicely. O'Brian had a tendency to be too serious, Bashir needed to mature, they had fun together, it was just fun to watch.

Voyage Home was my favorite Original Series film. I liked Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country. Wasn't a fan of Search for Spock. If you're going to kill off a character, make sure that you actually want to kill the character off. Don't go to such great lengths to resurrect a dead character. Agree with you on First Contact.

I really like both of the new films. I actually liked Into Darkness a little better than 2009 Star Trek, even though Into Darkness kind of felt like a repeat of Wrath of Khan. I'm excited to see the next film. I'm glad they resurrected it. A lot of my friends were not into Star Trek before the new films came out, but now I've been able to get them to watch the newer films...and for some of them, episodes of Next Generation, DS9 (Trials and Tribbleations is the one I show everyone the first time they watch it) and Voyager. I think making the new films got a generation that previously thought Star Trek was something their parents and grandparents watched interested.

O'Brien is one of my favorite ST characters in general, even when he was Transporter Chief on TNG. I was happy that he got a more prominent role on DS9.

I edited my post to include Undiscovered Country, I meant to include it the first time. That movie was very well done. Search for Spock was just okay. First Contact was really the only TNG movie that really liked, which is funny because that was my favorite of all the series. I didn't hate the other movies, but I certainly didn't love them either.

I agree. I thought the entire cast did an excellent job. Heck, I think Chris Pine is 10x better than Bill Shatner.

I don't think Karl Urban did a bad job at all. I saw 2009 Star Trek before I saw TOS, and when I saw 2009 Star Trek, Bones was just part of the cast. When I went back and watched TOS, he became my favorite character. I don't know what it is other than I think that he's incredibly charming.

Generations was just okay, too convoluted of a plot, though. I liked Insurrection, though it wasn't nearly as good as First Contact. And Nemesis was just bad. Can't believe they killed off Data.
