Hence the concept of the golden age, renaissance and whatever we are in now. Most of those movies just were not well received. The marketing push for Pocahontas outstripped Lion King and then it simply fell flat on its face. The lull between Jungle Book in 67 -> Mermaid in 89 was just the same, Disney basically ignores the majority of those movies for good reason.

One other one I forgot that really should be added to the marketing love affair is Stitch, sort of the equivalent to Pooh in a sense, which also randomly came out in the middle of the lull.

Even if marketing doesn't love them, the 19 years between Lion King and Frozen certainly had some worthy content. Hercules, Mulan, PaTF and Tarzan were certainly all at least 'good'. I'm somewhat partial to Emperor's New Groove, but that's a very ignored movie.

Reviews seem to match marketing pretty closely, except for Emperor's New Groove: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/guides/best_disney_animated_movies/#

I think Stitch sells a boat load of merchandise, so they milk him for all he's worth.

Emperor's new groove is one of my favorite Disney movies. Its up there with Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero Six. It's highly underrated. Heck I even enjoyed Atlantis and Stitch. Don't get me started of the destroyed genus that is the Black Cauldron. I wish we could see it before Katsinburg butchered it.

Is Lilo and Stitch considered a bad movie? I've always really enjoyed it.

Was The Emperor's New Grove the direct to VHS sequel to Emperor's New Groove?

Ehhh. I thought it was just ok... it felt more like something that would come from Disney Toon Studios and not Walt Disney animation.

Any rumour on a specific month PTN will be coming to DCA? I'll be at the disneyland resort last day of spring break next year. Hope to see it.

That was the up-scale outdoor mall adjacent to the proposed "Kuzcotopia".

@mnelson3, I have news! Looks like PTN won't be making its DCA debut until early 2018 - just a heads up for anyone hoping to catch it this holiday season.

Is that because of Festival of the Holiday's food booths?

I would think so, as well as the usual Viva Navidad schedule which goes after sundown. I mean, they probably could make it all work, but why do that when it's easy to just not?

On 1 hand, I'm not surprised that Navidad and WOC: Season Of Light are popular, they were last year(I think Navidad has a following every year...) Would be nice if Elena came back this year that was a good show.

On the other hand, Anyone getting tired of this thinking?!?!??! Is there any way to change their thinking? As it looks now, MK isn't trying to get a night parade ASAP. Not even managing to do a extra FOF at night. DL has MSEP ending Aug 20th, not Labor Day . Labor Day or later was always the end point for Summer/MSEP in the 80's and 90's. Don't you wish Disney would try a little harder???

Elena's show will be back this year as well.

And yes, it'd be great if Disney tried harder. But they won't, so.

I guess this makes sense with the holidays and the Pixar parade moving to DL in 2018...might as well do all at once.

Yeah - the nine year old depressing Pixar Play Parade ends at DCA on 8/20, and won't be in DL until early 2018 as well.
