What happens if an attraction shuts down mid-day, and you can't use your FP+?

I was checking out a few of my favorite Disney blogs and sites, and I stumbled upon this screenshot. It is an email from Disney notifying this guy that the ride is down and his FP+ has been changed to an open ended FP+ that he could use any time during the rest of the day. Also, he could choose to redeem the new FP+ at a number of attractions.

I'm not yet sure if it's appropriate to post links to a site that might be considered to be competition with WDWMagic. However, they have posted a full list of the FP+ alternatives for each closed attraction.

Happened to us with Test Track and they just allowed us to come back anytime once it was back up later that evening. They let us just walk right in the FP line when they had reopened quite a few hours later.
