My wife and I will be in the World next May for our 10 year anniversary and we were hoping to do a very simple vow renewal with our immediate family in attendance. Unfortunately all of the options through Disney Weddings are too expensive so we were wondering if we rented out a fireworks cruise could the captain just do a simple vow renewal while we were "out to sea". Any boat captains on the board have any insight?

Since it's a renewal and doesn't need to be legally binding, I'm sure they could. It's not like you need to sail into international waters just to reaffirm your vows. However, whether they would be allowed to offer their "officiating" services as a Disney employee is another story. Disney usually wants all weddings on property to go through their Fairy Tale Weddings department. Your captain might decline to help if he felt the request was bending some unwritten rule or simply beyond the scope of his job duties.

Then again, I have heard of people being granted permission to have "guerrilla" ceremonies. One couple called Disney to inquire about getting married on the monorail, and Disney told them to have at it since Fairy Tale Weddings doesn't use that location. You could ask, but it's something that you should definitely attempt to arrange ahead of time.

Also, I've heard that Characters in Flight offered an affordable wedding package when they first started running. I'm not sure if they still do it, but that may be worth researching as well.

Have you looked into the memories wedding collection?? They are very simple and not to expensive. You could maybe do that and then a nice dinner at a restaurant after.
