For an upcoming trip at the end of October, I'm debating whether to book a shuttle to and from Universal or rely on Uber. The break even point is about $25 each way. I believe an Uber without a surge would be under that amount by a few bucks (not to mention the added flexibility and speed). However, I'm worried about high surge pricing hitting us and taking us above what we would have spent on a shuttle.
Does anyone have any experience with surge pricing on Uber or Lyft when leaving in time for Universal park open or later in the evening (closer to 10/11 pm)? For context, IoA closes at 8 pm, Halloween Horror Nights runs until 2 am, so we plan to get dinner after IoA closes but leave well before HHN ends.
