TSI Paintbrush hunt officially done

Got confirmation from 2 cast members, one that seemed to be in the know about the situation, that TSI has ended the paintbrush scavenger hunt for good. We all expected this and it was bound to happen eventually with the digital age taking over the parks, but still very sad to me that we are losing a special thing. All these small things add up to the "magic" at the parks and I'm seriously more worried than ever that we are in danger of losing some of the magic. To me all these small things add up. Anyway enough of my rant. Thoughts?

Did they say why? It seemed like such a little, low-tech, low-cost way of putting a smile on someone's face.

They said it was originally going to start back up again after the Big Thunder reopening, but when they started to enforce return times they decided to do away with it. Which in a way makes sense.

Oh yeah i forgot about this and that it possibly would come back when Thunder returned. Bummer. But why does the prize have to be a fastpass? Why not a snack credit or something

I am actually beginning to think that TSI might be at the end of the line. That area would be a prim location for a big "E" ticket attraction. It would make sense after Fantasy-land is finished for them to work next Adventureland. While I know people love TSI, it is wasted real estate.

I would be so sad to see TSI go. There's not ONE single relaxing place in the entire park. Nothing like relaxing on the rocking chairs watching the Liberty Belle go by. I guess I would understand if WDW was landlocked, but it isn't and there is plenty of space behind Thunder for a huge E-ticket.

Don't know if it has any relevance to the brushes ending but walls are up at the bridge connecting to Fort Longhorn.

Maybe these small disappearances (Snow White, paintbrush, m'n'g at Camp MM, etc) are the start of a huge expansion at WDW. Personally, I think we are being spoiled brats about DLR vs WDW. I was there in March (yes, before Buena Vista St and Cars Land...which look AMAZING) and the actual Disneyland park really look 50 some years old...most everything in MK look new and (though some of us won't admit it) we can call it magical EVERY visit. I agree, WDW needs more than new resorts, refurbs, and small rides every few years...I think something big is on the horizon and we need to be thankful for what we have given to us...look at Fantasyland...that area has more potential than a darkride, coaster, and restaurant...and Disney knows that. Same deal with Pixar Place. One thing DLR is better at than WDW is their entertainment. World of Color, fireworks, Mickey's Soundsational, and Fantasmic. WDW will shine in the spotlight once again, we must be patient. And the Disney Company is so big, they won't care about little protests against their most visited resort ;)

Could not disagree with you more. Especially when most of the park isn't. Fantasyland is mosty 1983, Space Mt. '77, Big Thunder '79, Indy '95, Toontown '93, Splash '89, Star Tours '87 (original) etc.

Their main street has also seen alot of interior renovations in the last few years.

I'm sure TP2000 will be here soon enough with pictoral evidence to prove my point. ;)

I mainly meant the MS buildings and Tomorrowland except for ST and SM. I should have added that :)

Sad. It was always fun to try and find a paintbrush. I wonder if kids even know who Tom Sawyer is anymore. Or why one would be looking for a paintbrush on TSI :(

This is a real shame. Perfect example of the declining by degrees we are all too familiar with.

And for the folks who mentioned th Frontierland project...no way this is tied to that. That was really more blue sky than anything. We'd all better hope that never becomes reality because it means death of the Riverboat and TSI,
which are a huge part of the Park. Wouldn't be good to lose those. That and Tomorroland could really use work more than any other area of that park.

This is sad to hear. I never knew about it until reading about it on these boards. I wonder if its more to do with the Fast Pass prize than the actual hunt. Did the paintbrush hunt exist before FastPass? If so, what was the prize then?

That....makes no sense whatsoever. How does taking away a paintbrush game point even remotely towards WDW expanded? If they were going to demolish Tom Sawyer's Island I guess they could be trying to "ween" people off that attraction by taking away an aspect many people loved about it but there is absolutely no evidence they are doing anything with TSI. I wouldn't classify the disappearance of Snow White exactly as small either and we already know what is replacing her. Another meet and greet. Woo... And we have a pretty good idea what is going in at Camp MM...Avatar...the only really remotely big announced project for Disney. All else is still smoke and mirrors as they are relatively unsubstantiated rumors.

I'm no judge on DL as I haven't been there in a while but last time I was there, I didn't notice too many things showing there age. Some, but then the same goes for things in the MK too. It's still magical, of course it is, but that doesn't mean there aren't problems. It's good you see more potential in NFE than what is going in right now and I will give you that even Disney knows it...the original plan was for an 800 million overhaul of the place...then they chopped the budget by a good 500 million. But the question is, even if Disney knows it has more potential, will they actually ever do anything to realize it? I'm guessing not anytime soon, they are done for now once Mine Train is completed, at least not without a change in leadership at the corporate level.
