I think the issue for americans is, the clock seems to use the ISO standard, not american style.
so YYYY/MM/DD is Year Month Day (not the usual Year Day Month of the US.)

I just want @wdwmagic to wake up and put the countdown in my signature manually. He said it had to be manual so I took him literally..but something is just not quite right
