Tipping Mousekeepers

How do you go about tipping mousekeepers? Do you leave them a tip each day or at the end of you stay? Also, how do they know it is their tip on the nightstand etc.? Do you leave them a little note? Also, what is a reasonable %? Thanks!!!:veryconfu

What we do is leave a tip every other day and then a bit of an extra tip on the final day. There's only two of us in the room so we leave $2 a day plus $1 so $3 every other day and on the final day we usually leave $5.

We leave a tip every other day because we only ask our room to be cleaned every other day.

Everyone will say something different so it is whatever you feel comfortable with.

Also, we leave the tip in a small envelope with the words "Mousekeeping" on it right beside the sink. We figure that since they clean there, that's where they'll find it.

Hope I helped!

I give my great catch all answer: It depends!

If it's just me and a friend or friends there we'll leave a dollar a day per person. If there are little ones along we add a dollar or two per room per day depending on the disarray they leave. And all that of course depends on the service and the length of our stay.

On average if I go with a friend for a 3 night trip with no major messes or problems we leave about $10 total. I normally will leave a little note if we stay more than three days, but I try to get to knowing the Mousekeeping staff as well. We always put the tip in an envelope for them.

:ROFLOL: Cow Tipping; Tracker tipping now Mouse tipping how great.

Since we do the BCV we don't leave that much of a tip as they only come once during our visit. But also when I was a teen my parents managed Motels, so I am in the habit when we leave I strip the beds and get all the towels together so they don't have to.

Just thought this is my 1000 post.:sohappy:

Tipping the housekeepers at any hotel is considered appropriate. The amount you tip is certainly up to you. Somewhere around 2 to 5 dollars a day is standard. (Based on the number of people staying in your room, how much you tidy up after yourself, etc.)

Of course, if you have a lot of special requests, or you feel they did an exceptional job, a higher tip is always appreciated.

If they didn't do a good job, then of course I wouldn't leave a tip. And I would contact the front desk and make sure the situation is corrected.

I usually tip daily, as in most hotels (especially large resorts like Disney) you'll probably end up having different housekeepers during the week. I always leave a small note with the money in a visible location (edge of the table, dresser, etc.) so that there is no confusion that the money is a tip for them.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your trip!

I tip daily as I am never sure if it will be the same maid each day. I usually leave my tip on one of the beds with a little note thanking them for their services.

As has been previously stated, we tip $1/person per day. If they do a good job and seem to be doing a little extra, then we show out appreciation by tipping extra. We also let the manager know that who ever was cleaning our room was doing a terrific job. We have been fortunate up to this point to of had good house keeping.

Per amount, I agree with everyone else.
Where? I typically leave it under that card on the TV. That's where I once read it a good place to leave it. They always take it from there.

We tip daily, as the housekeepers do get days off, and if you leave the tip at the end of your stay, there is the chance that the person picking up that tip isn't the one who cleaned your room on the prior days. I usually leave $5 per day and leave it in the card that has their name on it on the bathroom shelf (at the Poly)

Tipping

:wave:Morning, my husband and I leave a tip daily. I believe it is not the same person who cleans the same rooms everyday. We leave a little note with the tip on bottom of it. I always put myself in their place and treat them with respect and let them know I've noticed how nice and clean the room was left. I think anyone in the hospitality business deserves that.
Have a magical day now. :sohappy:

We budget $1 per person per day, also. I make up envelopes before we leave home addressed to Mousekeeping and decorate them with Disney stickers (a good countdown project for kids!) and put the money in them. Having them made up ahead of time keeps me from scrambling for dollar bills every day while we're there. I usually leave the envelope in the bathroom where I'm sure they'll see it.

We always tip generously. (sometimes our room looks like a hurricane blew through!!) We buy up Disney greeting cards that have some kind of "thank you" theme to it and put the money on them. Depending on where we stay, sometimes I add little trinkets. We have always been graciously awarded lots of towel animals. I feel this is due to the tipping.

My friend who goes a lot to WDW does not tip well at all, if ever. She has NEVER received a towel animal. That's my reasoning behind tipping well. She doesn't tip and doesn't get the perks. We tip well, and we load up with the freebies!!!

I have always set my cards for tips on a corner of the first bed in a way they will surely see the card.

We make up envelopes on the computer before we leave that say 'Thank you Mousekeeping!' Do NOT just leave the money on a table or countertop as they are not supposed to pick up loose money. Always put it in an envelope or wrap it in a piece of paper that inidicates that it is for the maid (housekeeping). As for how often and how much, we leave $3 to $5 per day (as others have said, you may not have same staff each day). We have found that higher tips tend to produce cute towel animals, extra towels, and extra toiletries. :animwink:

I like the envelope idea for the kids. That just sounds so fun.

Now, after reading this board, I may change my way of tipping. I always tipped on my last day. It usually comes out to $2-3 a day though.

I always leave the tip under the "do not disturb" tag that goes in the door.
