I am going to Sea World and have seen the Killer Whale show probably 5 or 6 times by now but would like to see Tilikum, the really big Killer Whale. I know he is doing shows again but I know he doesn't do every show but want to make sure I don't miss him. Does anyone know what show they tend to bring him out for or how I could find out what show he is doing the day I go?
    Thanks.

They do not advertise when Tilikum is or is not doing shows. And it can change quickly before a show depending on his temperament, and if he wishes to participate. I would talk to one of the older team members who are the ushers at Shamu Stadium, and ask which shows they think he will be in that day. They should be able to tell you.

Wow, OFTeric thanks for the input. I will give that a try. I am sure they prefer to use him at certain times like maybe in the morning and I am sure one of the ushers would know this. Thanks again.

Who performs which shows is not decided by the crew but who wants to perform for that show. If a whale does not wish to perform, then it is left at that. Typically, when he does decide to perform Tillikum is at the end to splash people.

They actually do plan out which whales will be in which shows for the day. It's documented on the behind-the-scenes footage from the Believe DVD. They basically said that they try to get every whale in at least one show a day. However it's true that if a whale doesn't participate, there's really nothing they can do - they don't physically force the animals.

My guess is that they plan to have Tilikum at the end of every show, he's the biggest most impressive whale. Whether or not he participates I guess could be random. He's closed every Shamu show that I've been to in Orlando (which the exception of last summer when he was sick).

Tili often doesn't cooperate. It is kind of funny sometimes when he swims out, does the jump he wants to do then just swim in circles kind of mocking the trainers lol
