Trip Report The Vacation of Medication - September 2014

Sigh, I've been home from "home" for a week now, so I better post this before my Dory-like memory kicks in and I forget everything. This trip went by WAY too fast (don't they all). To make matters worse, both the kiddo and I had colds (hence the thread title).

Who: My mom, my 4-year old daughter (Bella) and myself

When: September 14th-20th

Where: Caribbean Beach Resort

-------------

September 12th: First day of driving. We had a nice breakfast at Cracker Barrel before our long drive from Memphis, TN to Dothan, AL. Bella and I watched Frozen (x3), Despicable Me, Lilo and Stitch, Brave, Tangled, Cinderella and Cars on the way while my madre drove.

She wasn't in the best of moods that day. Even though she has been to WDW two times prior, she thought we meant the Disney Store! Our Disney Store isn't even all that. Chill, child.

Doesn't she look comfy? What's more relaxing than having your feet propped up on pillows, eating cheez-it's and watching Disney movies for 10 hours?

We stopped at an Econo Lodge in Dothan...and had McDonald's for dinner. Um, talk about pre-gaming the food and wine fest, eh? o_O

September 13th: For some reason or another, my mom had it in her mind that if we arrived early on our check-in day, that it'll be ready for us in the morning. I kept trying to tell her it'll be our luck that it won't be ready til the evening, but whatevs. Spoiler alert: I was right.

We made a pit stop in Marianna, FL for some lunch at Po Folks. It's normally pretty yummy, but it was a miss this trip. We eventually stopped in Ocala, which was only a 4 hour drive from Dothan. We had Logan's for dinner. Yumyumyum. My favorite restaurant ever! Those rolls are my weakness.

Walgreens was calling our name. Before this trip was said and done, I spent around $150 on medications of all sorts - cold, nausea, headache, chafing, sore throat, band aids. It was ridiculous! I was in PAIN this trip with all the walking, plus Bella had a cold that seemed to vanish as soon as she stepped foot on Disney property. I wasn't so lucky.

Next: Check-in Day!! :happy::happy::happy:

ANIMAL KINGDOM DAY - Part 2

We had a reservation for lunch at Rainforest Cafe. I always wanted to go to one, so I knew when I was planning my dining reservations that this was what I wanted for our Animal Kingdom day. The restaurant is dark...a bit too dark for my liking. But the decor was so fun. We sat in the gorilla section. Every time they made their noises, Bella would giggle.

Our waiter was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I don't remember his name. But after go through my receipts, I will be sending a positive e-mail to guest services. He was so attentive, had a great sense of humor and answered all of our questions.

Bella liked her frog hat! She kept her KRR band on the rest of the day, lol!

I had the steak with fries and mashed potatoes. I requested my steak me cooked medium well, but it arrived well done. Whatever, it was a little burnt, but nothing to cause a fuss over. It was still yummy. I didn't like the mashed potatoes.

I don't remember what my mom got. I hardly took any pictures of her meals. Ooops!! Bella had the chicken tenders.

We asked if we could get the lava cake for our dessert on the dining plan, and he said yes. OMG!! SO GOOD!! My mom had the brownie part, and I had the ice cream. I don't know if it's worth $15, but it's definitely one of the best desserts I've had.

Bella had the lava mud for her dessert! As you can tell, she loved it. She eventually tried a gummy worm and was indifferent about it.

Afterwards, we headed back over to Dinoland to ride Triceratops Spin again. We also met these two studs:

I wish Goofy's head wasn't cut off in this picture, bit it's still cute.

We made our way back over to Africa to watch The Festival of the Lion King. I'm so glad they moved to Africa. The show is THE BEST that Disney has to offer. The songs and the stunts are breathtaking. It's definitely one of those shows that cue the water works, especially during the "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" sequence with the two birds.

After I dried my eyes, we walked over to Kilimanjaro Safaris for our last FP. I love looking at all the animals. My favorite part was seeing the lions and the elephants. I didn't take any pictures, as I was too enthralled with finding hidden animals and whatnot.

My mom went to go meet with my brother and grandpa so that she can use her QS credit to get my bro some food. The dining plan is a LOT of food, so if you have family going to WDW but staying offsite, it's a great way to make sure all of your credits are used. I only used my QS credit TWICE. I was so full from the TS.

While my mom went to do that, I took Bella over to get a photo with the Tree of Life. That is where we got our first MAGIC SHOT!!

I stopped by the FP+ kiosk to inquire about attaining a FP for Dinosaur. We were able to get one and headed over there since it was about 15-20 minutes away. I used a snack credit to get Bella a Mickey Premium Bar. She ate that while we waited on my mom to meet us.

We walked in the line and got all the way to the room where your given instructions by Claire Huxtable. That is when Bella had a mini meltdown. She said she wanted to ride Dinosaur, but what she meant was Triceratops Spin. The CM by the height stand was trying to comfort her, but Bella wasn't going to get on the ride. We weren't going to force her, so we exited the line and walked over to Triceratops Spin. We rode it about three times before heading home.

I didn't spend much at Animal Kingdom (surprisingly). I purchased pink sunglasses for me since it was really sunny. At Rainforest Cafe, I got a shirt for myself and Bella. I also got Bella a drum (I don't know what you call it) that you spin in your hands......along with a Simba baby.
