The "Spirit of New" Pre-Trip Report

Well... it's official! We will be heading back to the world in less than a month! :D This trip is sorely needed. We are a family that typically goes once, if not twice, a year... and we haven't been since September 2011! We promised ourselves we'd skip 2012 in favor of waiting for New Fantasyland to open and somehow we did it. Sure I cried every time I saw a Disney Parks commercial but we made it!

Goal: In the spirit of the opening of New Fantasyland, we want to focus as much of this trip on doing things we've never done before (or haven't as a family) and breaking out of our routine as much as possible. We're going to catch shows we've never seen and parades we've skipped in the past etc.

Dates: Monday, March 4th - Friday, March 8th

Cast: Jenn/Mommy (me), Bill/Daddy and Aaron (DS6)

Logistics

Resort: We had originally planned to stay in a Cars Suite at AoA to fuel the "new" theme but our budget isn't as open as I had hoped so we've decided to stay at Pop Century, where we've only been once before, so it's close to being a "new" experience. We figure we can walk over and check out the new resort and still get a great view!

Tickets: 5 Day Park Hopper

Other Stuff: Dining Plan, PhotoPass + and Behind the Seeds

Dining

ADRs: Teppan Edo (dinner), Sci-Fi Dine-In (dinner), Crystal Palace (breakfast) and Tusker House (breakfast)

All but Crystal Palace and brand new experiences for us!!

EDIT: Just added dinner at San Angel Inn too! :D
Edit again... Cancelled San Angel in favor of another first... Biergarten!

EDIT AGAIN! ONE table opened up for the Dessert Party on Tuesday so we've cancelled Teppan Edo and we're going back to the party! SOOO HAPPY!!

Cupcakes: We plan to eat the following cupcakes (yes, this is a plan and worthy of the pre-trip report lol): Peanut Butter (Main Street Bakery), Guava Cheesecake (The Land), Caramel Corn (Germany), Butterfinger (Starring Rolls), White Chocolate Elephant (Kusafiri Coffee Shop), Strawberry Shortcake (Boardwalk Bakery), Spiced Apple (Contempo Cafe), Chocolate Macadameia Nut (Captain Cook's)

Quick Service: No specific list here other than to say we always eat the same QS meals and this time we're going to do our best not to! :)

And... I dunno how we managed this but there is only ONE attraction closed for refurb that week (Splash)!

Well... it's all but official! We will be heading back to the world assuming nothing absolutely horrible happens between now and Wednesday when the IRS claims my refund check will be deposited. :D

Sounds like a great trip. I have to say that my husband and I absolutely adored staying at Pop in 2011. We had some of the best bus service ever at that resort. Have a blast.
We stayed at Pop back in 2007 I think it was. I liked the resort but it was a short trip so we didn't explore much. I'm looking forward to checking it out a little more plus I am really looking forward to hopping across the bridge to check out AoA. For us, we don't use the bus service typically but I too have heard great things about it. :D

Oooooo...I currently have the Disney site on the other tab on my computer and was looking at that tour. Let me know how it goes! I was wondering if my teens would get bored with it.
We just did it last trip. My kids loved it my younger one was planning what to plant at home and the older one was thinking about all he could eat!! Nice tour for the price!!

I was concerned because we're taking DS6 on the tour but I read the description to him and he was super psyched. He loves the ride (Living with the Land) so the idea of being able to walk around in the greenhouse I think was the appealing part. To him it's kind of being "backstage" so-to-speak and, just like mommy, he gets that's cool! LOL!

That's a great thought... I betcha he wants to plant all sorts of stuff after we do it. And the price is really the key thing here. The 3 of us came to $50 (exactly) with tax. Total, not per person. Can't beat it!
