Trip Report *Completed* The Running Princesses PHM 2015

Hi everyone! I can't believe we are already home from our trip . It went by so fast, but we had a great time and I can't wait to share it with all of you!!

Ok lets get started! I'm going to try and get as much of this TR done before I start my month of nights
Who? :
My Mom (Mary), my sisters Jill and Betta (her name is Elizabeth we call her Betta) and myself (Megan)

When?: Feb 21 - March 2 2015 (my sisters left Feb 28th)

Where?: The Wildness Lodge - our first time staying there and we loved it! I definitely would love to stay there again if I had the chance! It was our first time staying at a Deluxe Resort as well and it was a great experience. I upgraded from POFQ with the Stay Play and Dine discount.

Why? The Princess Half Marathon happened to coincide with my vacation time (in residency you have to pick your vacation at the beginning of the year and in 2 week blocks - I ended up jokingly picking Feb based on the low predicted crowd levels at Disney assuming I wasn't actually going to go!) and I always wanted to do a Run Disney event so it ended up being the perfect plan! Also, my sisters and my Dad and I gave this trip to my mom for her Birthday in August as a surprise

Ok First Day Saturday Feb 21st:
I think I slept like 3 hours at most before officially getting up around 5:00am to head to the airport. It was all good though I was going to Disney!!! (And ICU really helped me prepare for living on no sleep haha)
My mom, Jill and I all flew down from Buffalo together and Betta was flying down from Rochester and meeting us there (our flights were actually landing at the same time). Oh I also woke up at 3:30 am to find a text from Betta about how she thought we were staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and she was worried her DME tag said the wrong thing I corrected her and then took that chance to check on some of my ICU patients and asked a fellow resident about an update on them before he told me "go on vacation already" haha.

There was a long line for Southwest and I was apparently mad about it haha

This was my first time flying Southwest in a very long time. It was really nice to check two bags for free, especially since we had to bring all our running stuff down. I am by no means a light packer so it was especially nice to bring two suitcases so I had room for souvenirs haha

We briefly decided that we would wear masks on the plane so we wouldn't get sick. We told Betta our plan and she made fun of us...and then everyone on the plane looked at us funny so we took a picture and then immediately took them off haha

As if the masks didn't draw enough attention to us I got a peanut shell stuck in my tooth and my mom (who is a dental hygienist) and Jill (who is a dentist) had to floss it out of my teeth because it was literally driving me insane. Yep..we were the weirdos on the plane haha

The flight was otherwise uneventful and we found Betta waiting for us when we got off the plane

First "ride" at Disney

When we got down to DME is was really crowded, but who cares we are in Disney!
It was a little chilly outside but sunny so it was good to feel some warmth after being stuck in the coldest winter I've ever lived through!
The bus definitely took forever since the Wilderness Lodge was the last stop. There were a lot of fellow runners on the bus which was cool! We sat behind some ladies that had some drama about buying park tickets (who doesn't buy them before they leave?! haha) and the one kept insisting that she would never use the Magic Band with a credit card attached to it because it if gets lost someone can spend all your money (it took everything in my power to not speak up and tell her you get a pin with it).

I missed the picture of us going under the arch but did get this one!

Having never stayed at a MK resort before I thought it was so cool we got a sneak peak of the castle and of MK itself!

Anddddd finally we were at the Wilderness Lodge!!

It took my breath away it was so amazing! I of course cried a little when I saw it haha

I have more pictures of the hotel later but we were a bit rushed to get to the expo so I didn't stop and take too many pictures. Check in was painless and our room was ready! Room 3022!

We were starving and as much as I wanted to get to the Expo I eventually agreed we needed to eat so we headed to Roaring Fork for a quick bite to eat:
My mom, Betta and I split Turkey Wraps which were good and Jill had a cheeseburger which she loved

Then we headed to the Expo! Next post Expo and MK!

So happy that you loved Hoop De Doo! We did that for the first time in August 2013 and my son (then 9) - who complained the whole way there about having to leave MK, that the boat ride was too long, that the wait for dinner was too long, that there was nothing to do in FW while waiting, etc., etc. - LOVED it! It was his favorite dinner of the whole trip. He enjoyed the balcony seats we had, was able to appreciate the humor of the show, and even enjoyed some of the food. I was just so excited to be finally seeing the show, and that I was not disappointed at all. It was a great time, great food, and one of our most memorable evenings from that trip! I am glad that you gals loved it too!

We are also BIG fans of CoP!! Having started our WDW addiction with 2 and 5-year olds, we scouted out ahead of time every available indoor air-conditioned and seated attraction to keep not only the wee ones in good temper, but also mom and dad! I am also a history fanatic so I love stepping back in time, and we all love the Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow song. It gets me every single time!

I really can't say enough how much we loved Hoop Dee Doo! I can't wait to go back! I can see why people keep going back! Love that story about your son! Funny what kids dread at first and then end up loving!! We went on the CoP like 4 times this trip we were definitely addicted haha My dad has never been on it before so I can't wait to take him on it!

Day 7:
This morning we got up and got ready for 1900 Park Fare for breakfast! My mom, dad and I went there last year but my sisters had never been before so we decided to go again so they could try it! We took the bus to MK and then took the monorail to the Grand Floridian! I was a little nervous about the Grand Floridian not having monorail access since during the week they kept skipping hotels for maintenance but the monorail was running smoothly and we made it with time to spare! It was very cold out this day! haha

I can't say enough good things about the food here! I definitely would like to try dinner here sometime

Yum! Definitely will be heading back here...but I also want to try other breakfast places too! We have been to Crystal Palace and when I was little Ohana but I don't remember that. What are some other good character breakfast places?
We left GF and then headed to MK ! It was already super crowded! We decided to take the train over to Splash Mountain area and head to Pirates from there
Who doesn't love the train ! So relaxing!

I think we headed to 7DMT after this...I definitely enjoy this ride even though it is pretty short

We decided to go on Buzz Lightyear again even though the wait was 40 minutes...can't complain since thats the longest we waited for a ride all trip!

After saving the universe we headed to the Peoplemover again..that ride never gets old! Then, we wandered around and ended up at Philharmagic. I don't think I've ever seen it so crowded...probably because it was so cold outside!
It was finally time to meet Anna and Elsa after this!!
Jill's Roller Derby team was playing back home that night so she took a picture with her jersey on and sent it to them!

I feel bad saying this but I felt kind of meh about this M and G. They really didn't have much to say...not even Anna! I feel like I've heard some great stories about how cool Anna and Elsa are but I didn't really experience that..oh well ! Maybe next time! The CM working asked me why I wasn't a 100% sure I was a princess (since my shirt says 99.9% sure) and I couldn't come up with an answer so Jill told him because I don't have a crown haha
Betta wanted to head back and take a rest so we walked down Main Street with her and got this awesome picture!

We then took Jill on the CoP! Obviously we were obsessed and wanted Jill to see it as well and she enjoyed it too!
We had a Fast Pass for Space Mountain so wandered around until then
Love Space Mountain...easily my favorite ride!

We were pretty hungry (not sure how thats possible since I ate so much at breakfast!) so decided to head back to WL for lunch/early dinner!

Next up...hotel and back to MK!

My shirt is from etsy actually! It has a really cute bow on the back too but it was too cold to wear it just as a tank top! Love that you guys are listening to Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow! Can't wait to start hearing about your plans!

Day 7 continued:
I forgot that when we were still in MK I got this Olaf cake pop at Storybook Circus..it was delicious! Jill had something too but I can't remember what..

Back at the hotel we got lunch at Roaring Fork again...I think during this this trip we definitely ate the most we have ever eaten before at the cafeteria! I got the cheeseburger and so did Jill, my mom had the chicken nuggets and Betta had the pepperoni flat bread..no pictures since we ate this food before didn't think you needed to see it again The burger was OK, not sure if I would eat it again
After this Betta and Jill relaxed a bit at the hotel and my mom and I went to the hot tub even though it was freezing out We weren't the only ones...it was pretty crowded and tons of kids were in the pool still! We were in the hot tub with a few CMs...I enjoyed eavesdropping (what a weird word) on their conversations about Disney!
After this my mom and I were antsy to get back to MK so we headed out before Jill and Betta

Anyway my mom and I headed to Tomorrowland so we could add on a Fast Pass and ended up getting one for Winnie the Pooh. When we were getting in line I was (half) jokingly yelling at my mom for texting my sisters and holding us up...I said "look all these people are in front of us now" and the people who were in front of us heard me and turned around and were like oh you can go ahead haha I was like oh no I'm just being dramatic don't worry about it! Whoops semi embarrassing! Jill and Betta caught up with us quickly so we decided to pass time before Winnie the Pooh at Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. Jill and Betta submitted a joke that got picked (much to my dismay since mine didn't get picked haha).
The hub walls were finally down this day!! So cool!

Open space...so weird!

So before our Fast Pass I went to Tomorrowland Terrace to check in for the dessert party because I read online (and on these forums) that the time they give you is the time you check in for the night...but when I went to check in they looked at me like I had four eyes and told me to come back at 9 (yet for some reason they had a podium set up...come to find out they changed it just that week haha).
After Winnie the Pooh we split up. Jill and Betta headed to CoP and my mom and I headed to Dumbo. She got the red card!

We then decided to do Barnstormer! We were behind two men that couldn't fit together on the ride I felt bad for them it was kind of embarrassing...but it is a kids ride I guess
That was our first time on Barnstormer we enjoyed it
We met up with Jill and Betta after this and Betta was feeling pretty tired so we headed to Hall of Presidents so we could sit. Some girl behind us talked through the whole thing...weird haha
We wandered around after this then my mom and Jill wanted to do some shopping so Betta and I relaxed in the new hub
When Jill and my mom came back they gave me a present for planning the trip
They got me this beautiful Minnie Mouse thing!

It was very nice of them!
We got some pictures in front of the castle and still had a little bit of time to kill so headed to...the PeopleMover! Can't go wrong on this ride haha

As we were moving along the PeopleMover (or shall I call it by its proper name of Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover?) I was half paying attention and upon entering Space Mountain I realized something was off...and then I started freaking out because I realized that the lights were on!!!
I took like 20 pictures but this one turned out best...so cool!

It makes me a little scared to ride it knowing what it looks like...looks like you could get decapitated any minute haha
It was finally time for the Wishes Desert Party so we checked in and entered!
I had the unfortunate timing of having a stomachache at this exact moment but still managed to eat some deserts haha

I definitely wish I felt better because I didn't enjoy the food like I hoped I would...and it was so good! They had so many options for desert. When I started feeling better I ate a whole bowl of cherries haha. My mom unfortunately was not feeling well either so she and Jill left after Celebrate the Magic (which Jill had never seen before) and Betta and I stayed for Wishes.
The view from the desert party was pretty good. I was looking forward to seeing TInkerbell fly but it was too cold and rainy for her

I will spare you the million other similar pictures I have of Wishes haha! BTW my iPhone takes better fireworks pictures than my nice camera for sure!
When we left the party we got to go through a tunnel of CMs saying goodnight it was so neat! Then we got ushered into a secret back way out of MK that they probably open when its crowded! I loved the desert party I would have definitely said I would go back BEFORE the price increase but not sure I can stomach this new price...
After the bus ride home we went right to bed, especially since Jill and Betta were leaving in the morning

Love the picture of you and your mom hugging. That was so nice of them to buy a gift for you for planning the trip. It's so pretty. OMG!! You got to see Space Mountain with the lights on! So jealous! I would have been freaking out, too! I gasped when I saw just a glimpse of the photo, I knew immediately what it was lol. Too bad you and your mom weren't feeling your best at the Wishes dessert party. Everything looked yummy. It looks like I would enjoy it, but not sure I would be willing to pay the price they charge. I can't believe it's time for Betta & Jill to go home already . Looking forward to reading more.

It was so cool to see Space Mountain with the lights on! I couldn't take pictures fast enough...I almost wish I was on the ride instead of the PeopleMover haha...maybe not though. I love that you all read TRs together ! I try to read them to my mom but she never really listens haha. My mom got my present at Crystal Arts on Main Street! When I was reading her the latest post of my own TR (my mom does actually listen to ours) she kept saying "make sure everyone knows you got it because you put so much effort into planning these trips!" She's very sweet, wanted to make sure I got my credit haha. The dessert party is definitely worth doing (although maybe not with the new prices)...but at the same time I would be OK with eating a dessert from Main Street somewhere watching Wishes on the street haha. I'm a big fan of trying new things at Disney though so if someone asked me I would say do it once at least! If it wasn't so expensive now I would go back so my Dad could be there to experience it too

Day 8:
Betta's Tragical Express left really early in the morning so she left before we got up When we got up and ready to go Jill decided to stay behind so she could relax and finish packing so it was just my Mom and I for the rest of the trip. We headed down to Roaring Fork for some Mickey Waffles (for my mom) and a Croissant Sandwich (for me). While eating we couldn't help but hear a couple fight going on behind us about how long the male in the relationship takes to shower and how there was no hot water left for the girl haha. I will say we had a few experiences with cold showers at WL but I assume its from the size of the hotel...not from one person taking a shower...lol. It was pretty funny because they were sitting between us and another table and when we got up to leave this guy sitting at the other table gave us this knowing look of how he heard the whole argument too
After breakfast my mom and I headed to HS! It was a bit warmer this day but rainy. Still a rainy day in Disney is better than a sunny day anywhere else as they say.
We actually made it to HS in time to go in for EMH!
What a weird/awesome view with the hat completely down!

We headed over to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for a quick ride before the park opened!
hahah the guy and kid behind us are so funny!

I look so excited?

After this we headed over to GMR. I hate this ride but we felt like we couldn't skip it. I should say I hate this ride in the sense that you can't actually hate anything in Disney its just not my favorite..I find it to be incredibly boring haha
We sat next to a couple who honestly could not get enough of the ride and were so impressed with everything (esp the alien scene) hahaha Its always cool to ride next to people who have never been on a ride before...makes you feel the magic of the ride again

We headed over to Star Tours after this and sat behind this poor kid who was terrified the entire ride but his parents did so well with him and held his hand and took his 3d glasses off and he made it through!
We went to the Streets of America to see Cinderella's carriage and see if we could get our picture with it. Luckily for us there was no line because of the rain! BTW that movie was amazing...can't wait to see it again!

We happened upon the Monsters Inc M and G when we walked by so we jumped in line .. notice I'm still wearing my medal...

Walking around

We had some time to kill before our next Fast Pass so we walked over to One Mans Dream! I feel like this is the most underrated thing at HS! I always enjoy walking through and seeing the movie at the end.

It was pouring rain when we got out so we ran over to Disney Junior for our Fast Pass!
I debated about going to this Fast Pass for months since we are a party of 2 adults but it was raining anyway and I really wanted to see Doc McStuffins! Because we were in the Fast Pass line we got shuffled to the front which was even more embarrassing (I realized later we probably could have stood in the back haha). This show is so cute, though! I can't wait until we go back to Disney with kids so we could bring them and not feel embarrassed about being there...although everyone is a kid at Disney anyway I guess. To make us feel a little better when we talked to each other we kept pretending like we were looking for someone/the rest of our party

Doc!!

We had a Fast Pass for Toy Story Mania after this so we ran over through the rain and had a great ride! I think we ended up with pretty even scores in the end...I can't remember who actually won though
We were hungry so wanted to get some lunch somewhere we had never been before...Pizza Planet! Its so cool in the restaurant! It was packed though because it was raining so we didn't get a good look around. We both got pepperoni pizzas and we liked that they came with salads too! We were lucky to find a seat upstairs, it seemed like everyone else was wandering around looking for tables. I love people watching so that was the one advantage of it being crowded. I saw a CM sitting at a table with a family and they didn't seem so into it...I was wishing he sat with us instead!

We were pretty tired so wanted to head back to the hotel.
We were sick of the rain at this point and of course it was the one time we waited for the bus forever!
So many buses came before ours..notice my enthusiasm !

Next up DTD and MK!

After HS we headed to the hotel to organize our hotel room. Now that Jill and Betta were gone, there was more room to spread out (believe me fitting four grown women into a hotel room gets semi messy haha). It was sunny for a brief moment so we decided to take the bus to Downtown Disney to do some more shopping! I will say I love people watching on the buses and watching family dynamics! It started pouring again when we got there so I have no pictures! The sole purpose of going down there was to get an ornament that said Princess Half Marathon for my tree but at first they told me they could not do it because it would take too long and I was leaving in a few days so I left slightly disheartened. I ended up buying some plates for my Disney themed kitchen and a new phone case with Minnie ears on top

Anyway after thinking about the ornament I went back in with the intention of just shipping it home and another artist ended up coming into work and they were able to do one for me in 20 minutes I don't have a picture because its in my attic and I'm too lazy to walk up there and get it (in my defense its 3 floors up haha).
We had plans to go to MK so decided to go back to the hotel and take the bus from there!
It was raining harder than ever so we decided to wear both a jacket and a poncho..better safe than sorry!
When we got to MK we walked around a little bit and decided to go on the Carousel (the real one..not the one of progress haha)

I'm not sure if any of you watch See Ya Reel Soon on youtube but I love watching Joe and Ashley and they always go on the Carousel at the end of their trip so I was getting sad sitting there...but then remembered I still had a few more days haha
Next up was BE OUR GUEST!!! YAYYY! I was so excited to eat here! When we got in line to check in tons of people kept walking up and trying to get reservations last minute! Obviously there were no walk ups available and people kept getting mad about it. Like hello people you have to book this 180 days out

I do wish it wasn't raining so I could have gotten better pictures (and because it was cold so I didn't wear the Cinderella dress I got from Kohl's and saved for this particular dinner...)

We only waited about 10 minutes before they called us in! It was breathtaking! We had never been in there before because we kept missing our Fast Passes for lunch (including the first day of this trip!). I was so excited we were finally there! We got seated in the Main Ballroom. It is a little awkward how close the tables are together haha I felt like my mom and I spent more time listening to other peoples conversations instead of talking to each other. The table next to us offered to take our picture though so that was nice!

Ok second half of the split post
For an appetizer my mom and I both got the French Onion Soup which was amazing!!!! We still talk about it..it was pretty salty but it was so good

We also both got the Terra d'Oro Moscato to drink which was great. We of course had to get wine to drink since its a novelty in the MK

My mom tried to tell me she didn't want wine but I knew it was because I was treating her to dinner and she didn't want me to pay for it so I forced her to get it haha
The bread was delicious as well !

I will say I was a little hesitant about the food because it came out so quickly but it was so good!!!
My mom had the Pan Seared chicken breast (the picture is awful sorry..its mostly of the vegetables haha)

I got the Grilled Strip Steak ..I am not usually a fan of garlic but the garlic butter it came with was so delicious!

Even the vegetables were amazing!
During dinner we toyed with the idea of going to Epcot to get a sea salt caramel from Germany but it closed early that night so we ended up getting the Grey Stuff to split and was definitely delicious!

After dinner we walked around a bit! Its so pretty in there!

We weren't all that excited about the snow after this past winter haha but it is a neat touch

After this we had to meet the Master. He was sitting down when we first got there (they actually just announced his arrival and he came through the ballroom a few minutes before) so I was literally shocked at how tall he was!! I thanked him for having us for dinner and he bowed towards me haha

When we left the Beast sat back down and I realized we had put our wet ponchos on his chair so he probably got wet...oops

I can not say enough good things about BOG! I can not wait to go back..it has been on my Dad's wish list too so we will definitely go back next trip!
The original plan was to stay to watch the Main Street Electrical Parade but we were tired and cold and wet and very full so called it a night and headed back to the WL...not before a Photo though

At the hotel we relaxed and my mom forced me to watch Untold Stories on the ER and I ruined it for her by telling her the diagnosis way before they ever said it haha I hate watching medical shows on TV

Great update! Sorry you didn't get to wear your Cinderella dress . Isn't BOG amazing?! I loved having lunch there last summer. Dinner at BOG is on our wish list for my birthday trip. I really want to meet the Beast!
Happy to hear you were able to get your ornament. Love the Disney themed kitchen items you purchased. Can't believe you are already to your last full day !!

Still following along, I was only watching see ya real soon last night on u tube. They are in Disney right now! Loved BOG on our last visit, in just over 2 weeks I will be trying to get a reservation for our trip in Nov. sorry you didn't get to wear your Cinderella dress - looks like you will have to go back!

Great update! Sorry you didn't get to wear your Cinderella dress . Isn't BOG amazing?! I loved having lunch there last summer. Dinner at BOG is on our wish list for my birthday trip. I really want to meet the Beast!

You have to go for dinner! I have never been for lunch but I imagine dinner is even better than lunch. Meeting the beast was so cool!! He's so big! And very nice! I can't believe I am coming upon our last full day too. I think its why I haven't written because once I finish the TR then its really over Well that and I am studying for my boards haha
