The Millennium Village in Epcot

Seems such a shame that this space seems to be unused apart from time to time. I remember visiting it back in 2000 and thinking hat a great addition it was to Epcot. It seemed so lively and fun with all the different countries vying for your attention and it was such a great place to spend an hour or so. It always kind of saddens me as I walk past it now with Mrs Merg who never experienced it and think of the wasted space there and it's potential. I'm hoping one day it's maybe converted into a country pavillion of it's own or at least used as a permanent home for something or other.

For those who never visited it or for those that did and want a reminder of how it was, I've found a rather nice video of it on youtube. The first minute and a half shows clocks from around the world, I believe the creator was trying to be poignant or has a clock fetish. After that however, it's pure old school Epcot

Very sad that the space is rarely used. We had hoped that it would have remained open after the millennium celebration as is was or even rotate 'new' countries in every few years.

Yes, I too originally thought this. I'd have thought that if Disney made sure there were shops and restaurants in those countries that they could even make a profit from it over time?

I was to little to remember Millennium Village but is this in the current World Showplace?

If it is, World Showplace is actually used quite frequently for conventions and special event activity. It's one of the biggest in park convention spaces so it gets used quite often.

I remember this. My girlfriend back then (now my wife) and I stopped in here a few times. It's true. It's a shame they closed it down. I actually liked the egg pods things hanging from the ceiling. I think that was Sweden showcasing its seasons?

I only went through the village once, and unfortunately we went through it really fast. I wish I would have spent more time in there and taken more pictures. It would haven't been nice for Disney to keep it around and refreshed with new countries from time to time. The video was nice, but if anyone has any other pictures, please post it would be fun to see them.

Well I thought it was official that the plan was to convert every outdated pavilion into an event center soon..

..But then Test Track was updated and that just screwed up my whole prediction! Like, the heck?
