Pre-Trip The Last Minute, Why Not? Trip, Pre-Trip Report!

So yesterday afternoon I was minding my own business when my cousin texted me that Frontier Airlines had $70 flights to MCO this summer. This quickly led us to trying to figure out a way we could squeeze in a weekend trip to the World this summer! We briefly considered going this weekend, but there was simply too much to move around with our schedules.

This morning we decided we would go June 17th - June 20th and POOF! like that I had an entire Disney vacation to plan in 16 days! We've never gone on such short notice before, but I'm up for the challenge so stay tuned!

Now, this was a long time ago, but fun. I am guessing that would be much more challenging to do today.

Why: Why Not?! My cousin, Elizabeth, just graduated with her B.Arch and I'm getting married in December! We're taking this as a part graduation celebration, part bachelorette party for two trip!

Thank you! The two of us are 24 and don't have our own families yet so we figured this would be our only time to make a spur of the moment trip so why not? I'm glad you had fun on your trip and I'm sure we'll have a blast too!

Just realized I haven't introduced myself! Hi, I'm Santina and I'm a Disney addict Back to the trip planning!
Although the cheap Frontier flights were the inspiration for this impromptu vacation, we are actually flying on JetBlue! We'll be flying out of Newark at 5:55am to maximize park time on this short trip and returning home at 9:20pm (boooo ).

The Plans!
June 17th - Arrival Day and Animal Kingdom
I don't think either of us have ever started a Disney vacation at AK, but since this is the why not? trip we said "why not?" After landing around 8:30 and taking the Magical Express to ASMu we'll drop our carry-ons and head straight to AK. Since I refused to pay $15 per person for expedited shipping for our tickets to "possibly" get to my house in time, we'll have to make a stop at the ticket window to pick up Lizz's will call 4 day ticket and my DVC annual pass. (Side note: does anyone know if I can activate my annual pass at the ticket booth or do I need to still go to guest services?) We're hoping to hang out at AK for the morning, possibly head to Disney Springs, and then head back to experience AK at nighttime! We have fastpasses for Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris (at night), and the Jungle Book Alive. Festival of the Lion King is a must. I'm sure we'll also ride DINOSAUR 342784923 times We don't have any dining planned for this day as we're doing this trip on the cheap, but we'll probably grab some grub at Flame Tree or Yak & Yeti.

June 18th - Magic Kingdom
We honestly don't have much planned for this day other than our fastpasses: Space, Splash, and Big Thunder. Other than that, we know we want to hang out in Tomorrowland at nighttime, ride the people mover several times, go through the newish Peter Pan queue, and just go with the flow. Wishes is a must. I would like to introduce Lizz to the nutella waffle at Sleepy Hollow as well! If we can score a Be Our Guest lunch ressie, we'll likely do that, but have no plans otherwise!

June 19th - Epcot
For our Epcot day we have fastpasses for Spaceship Earth, Figment, and Soarin'. We'll be seeing the new Soarin' film so that's exciting but probably also means the line will be forever longg Our plans are to hang out in Future World for the morning and afternoon. We'll probably have lunch at Sunshine Seasons and check out the new DVC member lounge because why not? Late afternoon we'll begin our stroll around World Showcase, probably drinking and snacking until we reach our dinner destination - Via Napoli for a 5:40 ressie. After dinner, we'll finish strolling around World Showcase, skip IllumiNations, and probably catch a last ride on Test Track and/or Spaceship Earth before calling it a night.

June 20th - Hollywood Studios and Departure
We decided to end our trip here since we'll have to leave the parks in the late afternoon/early evening to catch the Magical Express back to MCO We're not entirely sure how we feel about this since HS is kind of a disaster at the moment, but it houses some of our favorite attractions so it should be okay! Our fastpasses are for Toy Story, Star Tours, and Tower of Terror. Hopefully we'll be able to snag a Rock n Roller Coaster fp too! We'll be having lunch at Mama Melrose's which is a favorite for us as well. Other than that, nothing is set in stone. Lizz would probably like to watch Indy and I'd probably like to watch BatB so we'll see what we actually end up doing!

We love Mama Melrose! The steak is delicious and so are the flatbreads I really loved the old Soarin film so I'm hoping the new one blows me away! I'll definitely let you know how it was!!

In general, we were really surprised with how dead the parks seem like they're going to be. We had no problem booking any hotel that we looked at, there were plenty of fastpass reservations left (multiple times for nearly every ride), and there were TONS of dining reservations. The only things we couldn't get were Seven Dwarfs fastpasses and a reservation at Be Our Guest. Soarin' only had 1 time left for our Epcot day but we got that. Basically, we have two theories: 1. the parks will be less busy than we were expecting/we're used to, 2. the parks will be filled with people who didn't know they had to pre-plan their vacation. We'll see which theory is right soon!!

Glad you had an easy time getting the FastPass+ times and ADRs you wanted. I noticed in your signature that you will be Disneymooning in December. My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Disney. We took our kids back with us to celebrate our 25th. I know you'll have a magical time!

Love this! All trips are fun, but something about last minute ones are fun and special in a different way! My best friend and I did a weekend trip with two days notice two years ago...we still talk about it all the time

Our magicbands shipped today! I was surprised we were able to customize them and have them shipped within 2 weeks of arriving but that's pretty nice! We both got purple

Also, I was able to snag a Be Our Guest lunch ressie for our MK day today! And I babysat my 6 month old nephew so today was a pretty awesome day all around!
