Proud mommy moment. Each of our schools has an anti bullying club:inlove: any way the high school one does student escorts for kids at risk for being picked on(mostly special ed students) or have reported a problem among, peer counseling among other activities:joyfull: It's rather hard to get into and almost impossible for freshmen but James got in:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: I think it may have helped that he knows some of the special ed teachers
Way to go, James! That sounds like a great program, too. I'm glad the school has something like that! And great that James wants to be involved! Why is it so hard to get into? It seems like that would be a group where you would say "The more the merrier!"

But when you finally get them out do you bring the child right back into a signature restaurant for round two? Me it was an over tired kid late at night and parents that could care less about others. Late seating is an odd time to have brought a special needs child into there. Personally late for any kid.

I've seen the same child over the last two days. Typical kid.
Not right away, no, but if we weren't finished with our meal, once he calms down, we will bring him back in with the understanding that if there's another meltdown, we get out of there right away. If we're done,we'll just go ahead and leave. But I thought during the hurricane, they had kind of lowered the bar and made it not such a signature to accommodate the need for decent food by all guests. We aren't signature dining people, though...I would love to do Cali Grill sometime, but it's not somewhere I would take my son normally. But if there was a hurricane and options were limited and they had made some arrangements, I would consider it....it would just depend on the circumstances. If I'm on vacation, I'm not going to live on sandwiches and french fries if I have another option. Not knowing that family or their circumstances, I can't really judge. Maybe they were celebrating something special and that was the only time they could get in. Maybe the restaurant had been booked for all the earlier spots. Maybe they were all frazzled because of the hurricane. There are so many contributing factors. Maybe you are 100% right and they were just irresponsible parents who didn't care about anyone else's dining experience. There are such people, unfortunately.

So the month before school began the days were cool, low to mid 70's and now that school is in full swing were are humid and in the mid to high 80's. Did I mention that my school doesn't have air conditioning and the one window that opens in my classroom is right next to the paved parking lot so the rising heat makes my classroom feel hotter. :( The kids and I are exhausted at the end of the day just from the heat.
Sending mojitos asap. Also thinking sending kids home exhausted may not be all bad:oops:

Still no rain in our area. Another bad air quality day tomorrow. We went to the grocery store today, and it was crazy. Most people are eating out or staying inside. Our store King Sooper's in our area sent out their ads on Tuesday...They had sale items to buy 4 of combination of things, each one was 1.99. So I made out my grocery list and had them in groups of four. Got to the store and signs for the sale items are missing. We missed a few things because we weren't sure what was included or not. It was crazy for all the older people in the store. Most retiree's shop on Wednesday after the retirement checks are in the mail. I'm thinking it was to not sell as much to older folks. What I thought would be a 30 minute trip turned out to be 2 hours. They had rearranged the store since last week.:mad::mad: We will find another store instead.
I hate when store rearrange their isles but am loving 2 of the places I shop at did that because they also expanded their selection and sale items are now a bit easier to find. I wish you had Wegman's and Shoprite out your way.

It's somewhat hard to get into because kids get to leave a class early or get into one a bit late when their doing escorts, some of the slackers tried getting in just to be lazy. They also want to make sure the kids have the right temperament to handle difficult situations if needed. The swing first ask questions later kids may be of legal concern.

I had breakfast has Steakhouse 55. I ordered the savory porridge, and it was very delicious. Definitely like nothing that I have eaten before. When I mentioned dessert, I meant the special birthday treat that they brought to our table, when we were finished with our meal.

How cute is that birthday dessert?! :inlove: :hungry: Happy to hear that you had a fun vacation!

That sounds like a great program that all schools should implement. Maybe they should also get a one on one with a school psychologist, the bully and the one being bullied and have a safe discussion between the kids. Maybe teach the bully some empathy. Instead of detention or suspension they could do actual exercises that may curb the bullying behavior. Bullies after all are acting the way they do because of some unaddressed issue. It may be a naive idea, but it just popped into my head so I thought I would just throw it out.:D Anyway, great job James!:)

Our school does all that, for first time offenders. It's not that we have no problem but when something happens it's nipped in the bud.:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: It's sad not all schools have such a program:(

Because I don't follow most sports, I hardly know one team from another. I'm more interested in what kind of jobs they had for kids at a big stadium. Sounds more interesting than my first job. Did you sell programs for the games, or were you working somewhere in the food concessions?
Concessions. I could do anything but sell beer because I wasn't 21. Couldn't see the game but you could hear most of everything that went on.

This reminds me of a video I saw the other day, but I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link because it has some foul language in it. It was about Every teacher's favorite parent or something, and it was about back to school shopping and the woman was saying people complain about having to buy tissues for the classroom and how she will buy ANYTHING the teacher needs, because she is teaching her children. You need a microwave? I will get you a microwave. Why? Because you are teaching my children. You know what that means? It means that -I- don't have to teach my children. And she said something about sending the teachers vodka for putting up with her kids for 7 hours a day. And they aren't even allowed to hit them! It cracked me up.
