Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I agree that the date can be a month or two ahead of or behind that date... or be meaningless. If the permit is for the rock work, e.g., it could certainly be that the rock work would certainly be done by that date, but that doesn't mean everything else is ready and future permits for restaurants and such may show a later date.

OTOH, it could be a sign of confidence that, at the least, they really do plan on getting done only a few months after Anaheim.
Any clue on who is in charge of the rockwork for SWL? I thought Zsolt Hormay would move over to that project after finishing up Pandora land.

Here's an interesting update from out in Anaheim. The easternmost of the three entrance paths to Star Wars was just opened today, one day before the Disneyland Railroad returns to service after an 18 month long closure and rerouting. This path at Disneyland, which sits directly behind Big Thunder Mountain and adjacent to Fantasyland's entrance gates, will be the one at DHS that leads from Toy Story Land into Star Wars Land. The berm here is massive as the pathway slopes down and the Disneyland Railroad travels above on top of this huge new berm.

The entry portal shown in this video is also massive, and should be duplicated in size if not in theme at DHS at the Toy Story Land portal. This gives us a really good idea of the scale here. All of the trees and walls and new railroad route and everything were installed into this area in the last year, and 15 months ago it was just flat bulldozed topsoil.

At the end of this video John Lasseter is seen waving at the controls with his wife at his side on their personal steam locomotive he brought to Anaheim for the day so he could play with his train set. Because Disneyland.

They'll be able to fix any simple operational issues they find with DL's SWL before DHS's version opens, which is nice. DHS's won't have to go through that same learning curve.

The tricky part is that there are two.

I assume Zsolt would do a project this important, but considering the lands are only 6-9 or so (I don't know) months apart, will he be able to do both?

The day after the easternmost entry portal to Star Wars at Disneyland opened, the westernmost pathway up to the entry portal has now opened. This is the version that would lead from the new Grand Avenue and Baseline Tap House at DHS. But at Disneyland this entry path leads from the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoe dock and Hungry Bear Restaurant patio before it turns under a trestle for the Disneyland Railroad.

This video is the eastern portal to Star Wars, and it's interesting to see the Star Wars buildings rising up behind the Disneyland Railroad berm in the distance. That tall crane is also part of the Star Wars project. This was taken early on Saturday morning as the park was opening, with the first canoe of the day leaving and the first trains circling the park, with hardly anyone around! Kind of neat to see, and then try and relate to how it will play out with the big new berm being built at DHS.

There's a third entrance into Disneyland's Star Wars Land in between this one and the first one. So perhaps the DHS version of this western portal will be larger?

Say what you say, but in my opinion.. those are awesome detailed areas. Love the lamps, wood posts, etc..(on both videos)
