As I am sure many of you already know that Disney announced the Star Wars Day at Sea for select sailings in 2016.

Turns out this was all the motivation that the wife needed to pull the trigger on a 7 day Disney cruise that we have been wanting to take since our first 4 night disney cruise more than 13 years ago.

She called our good friend and travel agent Pam (@Kingdom Konsultant ) at Kingdom Konsultant and got us set up for the March 19th 2016 sailing.

So who else is going, wanting to go and all that jazz?

Man, I would so love to do this, but timing and finances will be tough for us.

I'm hoping that the popularity will cause this event to spill over to the shorter, and more affordable, Bahamian cruises.

I expect to see lot's of trip reports with pics in 2016 for Star Wars Day at Sea.

Is it just me or is Disney really soaking those of us who want a Star Wars experience on a ship? The difference between the 7-day cruise with the same itinerary for the non-Star Wars week during the same month is at least $1,000. I cannot believe that price for the Star Wars cruise for an inside stateroom is so much more than the next week without the Star Wars.....

Yeah, I was all for the cruise after seeing the post on the Disney blog UNTIL I saw the pricing. I understand a 7 day cruise is going to be more expensive than the 3 or 4 day cruise, but the same route on the same ship a week apart is THAT much more? And the last one in April for this class of stateroom is over $4,000.

The full details are here: http://www.starwars.com/news/announcing-star-wars-day-at-sea-on-disney-fantasy-sailings

But a quick rundown:
Character Meet n Greets
Celebrity Panels and Meets and Signings
Screening of all films, and some Galaxies episodes
Star Wars deck party
Night Clubs turned into the Cantina
Trivia
Crafts
Etc.

All 7 films? Because The Force Awakens will be out before the cruises start. Shown back to back to back? I would love 20+ hours of Star Wars except for Episodes I-III and Hayden at the end of Jedi....

The price can vary quite a bit depending on the date you sail. The May 19th sailing we are going on coincides with spring break for a good number of the schools here in Florida and is higher priced because of it.

These sailings are also selling like hotcakes. According to our TA, the price for our room category went up by $300 overnight.

Understand that, but the price for the week before the last SW cruise in February (no spring break there) is at least $1000 less for the same category stateroom. Glad they are selling like hotcakes. But as Dzny said, for that price I can do a 7 day trip sandwiched between 2 SW weekends.

It is so much less because there is no spring break (school holidays drive the price up) and it is February (winter drives the price down). If you look in January it will probably be even less expensive than February.

Missed the point of my comment. I understand that January will be cheaper than February which will be cheaper than March which will be cheaper than April. I'm talking about the difference between a trip on February 1st for the same itinerary without SW and a trip the next week with the same itinerary and same class stateroom with SW.

Oddly enough it says six films... But since the 7th will be out by then I would 100% expect it to be on the ships, maybe on all the other days since 7 films in 1 day doesn't leave you with much time to do anything else they have planned.

2/13/2016 Cat 11c $3358 No SW day (holiday)
2/20/2016 Cat 11c $3045 SW day
2/27/2016 Cat 11c $2909 No SW day

2/6/2016 Cat 07a $3377 SW day (holiday)
2/13/2016 Cat 07a $3377 No SW day (holiday)
2/20/2016 Cat 07a $3353 SW day
2/27/2016 Cat 07a $3218 No SW day

We are booked!!! The kids (included DH) are pretty excited and so am I! I just hope we get close to the room we want tho (Had to book GTY for the 5E category) ... I love those extended verandahs, and would hate not to have that this time.

We are trying an inside state room with the virtual port hole on this trip.

We have had a veranda on the past two Disney cruises and just never seemed to really use them much.
