I know the talk about the awful shape SM is in has been a hot topic here for quite some time. However, on our trip last month, it was the one thing that really bothered me. The "laughing place" jumping water scene has been broken, as far as I know, at least 8 months now. We should all know that attractions that run for 12-16 hours per day, year round, are going to need some TLC and are going to have maintenance issues. But this is one that I simply can't wrap my head around. If Disney cared and wanted to fix that scene, it could be done in an evenings time.

So, my question to you is, does Disney's lack of effort to fix this scene bother you at all, or is it something that you don't care about? Please feel free to explain your answers.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
The Laughing Place alone is bad enough, but the rest of that attraction is in pretty lousy shape anyways.
I've heard a rumor that they may be getting rid of the "Song of the South" theme altogether. Maybe it could get rethemed into something else. I think Princess and the Frog would fit in well, aside from the whole "Frontierland" issue...

Maybe rides like this will get some good TLC once the rest of FLE opens up (minus the Mine Train).

Splash was crap last time I rode it.

I didn't think so with my rational mind, or because I knew of its problems, or because I'm a sourpuss. I just really was bored some of the time, was unimpressed with it. The drop saved the ride for me, otherwise, I wished I was in the railroad above.

While I know everyone seems to experience Splash broken, every time I ride nearly every effect is working. So if the jumping fountains aren't working, while I'd like to seem them, it doesn't affect the experience for me one way or the other. Then again, it shouldn't take over 8 months to fix.

I still love Splash and it is my favorite ride, but the Laughing Place was always my favorite scene in the ride and its really sad to me that it is broken :(

No no no they have to keep song of the south. It is a classic :( I really hope that rumor is incorrect

You know, it's funny. I absolutely LOVE Splash Mountain. And if I wasn't a member of WDWMagic.com, I doubt my husband and I would really notice the broken bits of the rides when we visit on our honeymoon in Oct. But the fact remains that I do visit here, and it's given me a greater understanding of what's going on in the parks.

What I mean to say is that to me, this is the first ride my husband and I rode on - on our first date as CM's - and it is my favourite ride for that reason. So it's important to me that Disney keep it up and that they honour it -- it's so important to so many people. But whether we would have noticed, had we not been WDWMagic.com members? That's a toss-up!!

We are assuming it could be fixed in an evenings time...maybe not...Im not defending Disney not fixing it...but as hellowonderland stated I doubt most people that ride any attraction at Disney NOTICE the the things that us Die Hard Mouskateers complain about. To answer the next response ..no thats not a justification to not fix it, but it might be that cant be fixed in one night and opted not to Close it with other projects going on

I was there 2 weeks ago and also noticed that the "jumping water" was not working.

I've have mixed fixed feeling about Splash Mountain. On one hand it is classic Disney but, on the other hand, I hate when those water cannons dump water on you for no good reason. I don't mind getting a little wet but, depending on timing, those things dump a bucket of water on you. During our last ride, the cannons didn't seem to be shooting as far as normal even though it was a hot day. I wonder if that's permanent.

Ill caveate my above statement with this...it bothers me more that when I ride Peter Pan, Pooh, and snow white before it closed that when looking up you can see the bare ceiling Id prefer to see Disney mask this better..I realize most these attractions are for kids and they generally arent looking for issues..but I certainly notice them

The water cannons that used to get you wet on your way up the first hill have been turned off permanently.

You would notice. It's an entire show scene in which NOTHING is happening.

I am flabbergasted that so many people are taking the don't care option. Those must be the "what do they know? Tourists" that we hear so much about.

I love how quickly people here at times try to insult people for their opinions..for the record I must be a "what do they Know? Tourist" that he has heard so much about even though techincally Ive been a resident of Florida for 44 years and have been attending Disney regularly since 1975..and my vote was the the Dont care option because of the limited wording of the 2 choices it best described my view...I rode it in January and didnt have any particular issue with it..every attraction at Disney can always have something done to improve mechanics or visuals..when Im there over Labor day Ill certainly ride splash mountain more than once..and while Ill certainly notice things amiss it wont be the end of the world..the reality is we dont know what parts of rides are turned off permanately for safety issues (legal issues) or are just broken..it amuses me when people speak out of hand that fixes are simple..why cant they do it quicker..unless you're an engineer on the project..I doubt many are qualified to even guess what it takes..opinionate sure..be frustrated that it isnt fixed in what you percieve a timely manner..fair enough..insult people for voting against your viewpoint...silly
